Responsibilities
- Operate and manage large-format digital printers for high-quality production of complex signage and graphics projects.
- Oversee color management processes, including PMS color matching and calibration of printers for consistent output across various substrates.
- Troubleshoot advanced printing issues such as color inconsistencies, banding, and media jams, ensuring timely resolution.
- Train and mentor Digital Print Operators and other team members to ensure proper operation of equipment and adherence to best practices.
- Collaborate with designers, production staff, and supervisors to manage complex print projects and meet customer specifications.
- Perform advanced maintenance on digital printers and finishing equipment, including replacing heads, adjusting settings, and updating firmware.
- Inspect finished products for quality assurance, ensuring they meet specifications and production standards.
- Manage and prioritize production schedules to meet deadlines while maintaining high efficiency.
- Evaluate and implement process improvements to enhance workflow, reduce waste, and improve overall productivity.
- Maintain accurate records of production activities, including material usage, job details, and equipment maintenance logs.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and promote a clean, organized, and efficient work environment.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred; certification or advanced training in digital printing or graphic arts preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience operating large-format digital printers in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Extensive experience in color management, substrate handling, and advanced troubleshooting.
- Prior experience in custom signage production is highly desirable.
- Expertise in digital printing software and tools, including Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop) and RIP software such as Onyx or FlexiSIGN is a plus.
- Advanced knowledge of color management techniques, media profiles, and resolution optimization.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex printer and production issues.
- Strong mentor skills with the ability to train team members.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Exceptional organizational and project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Mechanical aptitude and proficiency in maintaining and repairing advanced printing equipment.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
- Capable of lifting and moving materials up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable working in a production environment with noise and exposure to inks and solvents.
- Familiarity with additional finishing techniques, such as laminating, mounting, and die-cutting.
- Experience implementing lean manufacturing practices or workflow optimizations is a plus.
