Summary Of Position
Reporting to the Production Line Supervisor, this role leads the execution of manufacturing activities for a section of the production line (e.g. a group of processes). The Production Section Leader helps allocate and train team members to the appropriate workstations in their specific section to ensure products are made at the required rate and in conformance with FDA CFR part 820 and ISO13485 2016. The job holder is accountable for production performance relating to Safety & Environmental, Quality (& Compliance), On-Time Delivery and Cost for their specific section of production. This job does not have direct reports.

Essential Functions And Duties
- Ensures safety of manufacturing process to protect employees from work related harm (zero-accident mentality)
- Applies a disciplined approach to ensuring conformance to medical device regulations, standards and norms e.g.
- Assist Production Line Supervisor to confirm that employees at all workstations are trained (or in training)
- Reinforces meticulous adherence to procedures and suggest changes to the procedures as needed to continuously improve them
- Signals non-conformances where there is a clear deviation from the approved process
- Ensures correct material segregation and traceability and processes in, “First in First Out order”
- Drives Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Good Documentation Practice (GDP)
- Communicates production goal delivered by Production Line Supervisor to employees and provides feedback
- Supports conformity with and improvement of environmental standards e.g. follows waste management procedures, ensures hazardous materials are properly handled (by trained personnel) and stored, proactively proposes solutions for more economical use of resources
- Ensures the production workplace is clean, orderly, organized, and befitting of a medical device manufacturing facility.
- Supports the Production Line Supervisor to ensure fair and consistent application of company policies (e.g. punctuality, attendance management, supplementary hours etc.)
- Helps allocate employees to appropriate workstation within their section with coordination with Production Line Supervisor
- Escalates material, tools, and/ or equipment issues found in section and equipment that is maintained and calibrated is used
- Tracks hourly production for their area of responsibility. Escalates issues as necessary to the Production Line Supervisor
- Communicates with and supports other sections leads (across line and to other shifts) to ensure overall production line attainment under guidance of Production Line Supervisor
- Records relevant information to assist the Production Line Supervisor in tracking Key Performance Indicators and communicating performance and needs to the support groups
- 1st line responder to parts requiring review/investigation and unplanned events on the production line (e.g. equipment breakdown). Becomes the point of contact in cases where an intervention from other functions is necessary (e.g. Maintenance, Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain)
- Analyzes situations and follows agreed reaction plans developed by the Production Line Supervisor to maintain line balance and flow
- Supports the implementation of new technology, new products, and other innovations
- Trained and technically competent in entire section assigned
- Experience and full understanding of the production line
- Participates in additional training relevant to this position
- Other duties may be assigned, directed or requested
- Observe and hear warning signs and signals within all areas of the company
- Repetitive hand movements including using scissors for several hours at a time
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as eye and ear protection
- Use of toe protection.
- Use of a hairnet and/or beard net as required.
- Vision ability required by this job includes close vision and the ability to remain focused on small work pieces for extended periods of time
- Use of synthetic gloves for hygiene reasons or take other appropriate measures to preserve the cleanliness of the product
- Stand, walk and/or sit up to 10 hours a day with periodic breaks allowed (Standing can be up to 10 hours, Walking can be up to 10 hours, and Sitting can be up to 10 hours)
- Work is performed in a manufacturing environment
- The employee is expected to operate machinery with moving parts
- The employee may occasionally be exposed to dust
- Based on station assignment, the employee may be exposed to water, heat, cured resins, soap and disinfectants
- The noise level in the work environment is consistently moderate
- High school diploma or GED
- 1 years’ experience in a production environment
- Collaborative and Critical solution driven thinker
- Training development and execution
- Multiple products, lines, and/ or shifts experience
- Culture champion
