Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Maintenance Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of maintenance tasks to ensure the smooth operation of our facilities and to work closely with the Maintenance Director. This role requires a solid understanding of mechanical systems, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. In addition, the ideal candidate will also be responsible for driving community residents to medical and personal appointments using the community van.
Duties and responsibilities
- Interacts with residents and staff in a professional, friendly and compassionate manner at all
times.
- Completes make-ready process of vacant resident apartments, including painting, carpet cleaning,
and general repairs.
- Provides general repairs and maintenance in resident apartments and common areas.
- Responsible for proper use and storage of tools and materials.
- Responds to emergency calls as needed.
- Maintains building and grounds to company standards, which may include painting, mowing, landscaping and trash pick-up/disposal.
- Follows all OSHA, Fire, Health Department and safety requirements.
- Demonstrates high standards of ethics and personal accountability.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Job requires walking and standing for extended periods of time.
- Push, pull, lift up to 50 lbs.
Qualifications
- 21 years of age; High School Diploma or GED.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Knowledge of safe handling of tools normally used in maintenance projects.
- Drive, desire, and willingness to learn.
- Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively with residents and co-workers in
English.
- Demonstrate good judgement skills.
- Must have basic computer skills.
- Ability to work well under stress, complete assignments accurately, and work independently, as well as with co-workers.
Job purpose
The Driver provides timely and courteous transportation to residents.
Duties and responsibilities
- Interacts with residents and staff in a professional, friendly, and compassionate manner at all
times.
- Safely transports residents to and from appointments at scheduled times.
- Assists with loading/unloading of residents in company vehicle, including those with walkers or
wheelchairs.
- Pushes residents in wheelchairs, including up and/or down using ramps/lifts as needed when
leaving for or arriving at destination.
- Assists in securing residents for safe transport.
- Ensures community vehicle(s) is in good working condition.
- Ensures exterior and interior of vehicle(s) is clean for the residents and represents the
company in a positive manner.
- Ensures fuel is adequate in vehicle(s) at all times, and that vehicle(s) is serviced according
to recommendations.
- Assists with vehicle(s) inspection/registration renewal process.
- Reports any issues or concerns with vehicle(s) performance or drivability to supervisor
immediately.
- Follows company policies and procedures for reporting in the event of an accident.
- May drive company vehicle(s) to make pick-up or deliveries as needed for the community.
- Follows all OSHA, Fire, Health Department, and safety requirements.
- Demonstrates high standards of ethics and personal accountability.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Job requires sitting, walking, and/or standing; sometimes for extended periods of time.
- Regularly Push, pull, lift up to 50 lbs.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record, as established by company insurance
provider, is required.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to drive a passenger bus or other assigned vehicle in a safe and courteous
manner.
- Ability to read and understand safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and
procedures manuals.
- Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively with residents and co-workers in
English.
- Demonstrate good judgement skills.
- Must have basic computer skills.
- Ability to work well under stress, and work independently, as well as with co-workers.
- Demonstrate desire to be a team player.
- Regular attendance is required.
