Hours: 8:00 to 5:00 Monday through Friday with extended hours as required
Job Summary:
The Director of Construction position reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer and is responsible for the success of the construction projects. The ideal candidate is managing project managers/superintendents, project timelines, budgets, and customer interface throughout the project while fostering a positive work environment for all team members and trades.
Key Responsibilities:
- Continue building and maintaining an environment of respect, integrity, and servant leadership with all team members, trades, vendors, and clients
- Use the company project management software to operate effectively (Builder Trend)
- Responsible for the success of the projects being completed
- Responsible for the direct oversight of the onsite management
- Responsible for assisting in building project schedules
- Coordinate all trade and labor personnel to properly meet schedules
- Facilitates project tasks and project owner information with all site management (Superintendents and Assistant Superintendents)
- Ensure all projects are updated in the Project management system promptly
- Ensure all site management is uploading material receipts daily to the company project management system (BuilderTrend)
- Use internal documents and processes to help accomplish project timelines and meet budgets
- Ask questions to gain clarity on any project or processes
- Work with the pre-construction team to plan new projects
- Ensure project operations are working properly
- Assist HR in onboarding new employees.
- Assist team members when needed
- Launch all active projects on-site with the superintendent.
- Ensure superintendents fully understand projects
- Some overnight site supervision is required
- Some Daytime & Overnight Travel to sites around Texas to ensure projects are operating properly will be required
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Construction Management, or a related field.
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience as Director of Construction, Executive Project Manager, or relevant position.
- Five years of experience working in the construction industry.
- Experience managing multiple projects, leading and developing others, and working with senior leadership.
- Detail-oriented.
- Ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and time management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, and collaboration tools.
