What are the responsibilities and job description for the Certified Driving Instructor position at Street Smarts Driver Education?
We are looking for patient, enthusiastic individuals to instruct and work with our high-school aged students. Responsibilities include instructing behind-the-wheel lessons that promote safe driving skills, communication with parents and students, and strong knowledge of Iowa traffic laws. Driving instructors work closely with parents to further develop and practice necessary skills.
To be successful as a driving instructor, you should maintain excellent communication with students, parents, and Street Smarts at all times. Ultimately, an excellent driving instructor will tailor their instruction to meet the needs of students, while still meeting targets set by Street Smarts.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teaching practical skills on all aspects of driving
- Guide students to develop confidence in their driving abilities
- Documentation and reports of students' progress
- Ability to remain calm and be proactive in uncertain situations
REQUIREMENTS:
- Applicant must be at least 25 years of age
- Valid Iowa Driving License
- Earn your Driver Education Endorsement or Behind-the-Wheel authorization (iowadot.gov/mvd/driverseducation/For-instructors/Iowa-driver-education-certification-courses)
- Background Check through the Iowa Board of Education
- Mandatory Reporter Training through the Department of Human Services
TUITION REIMBURSEMENT:
- After successful completion of the Behind-the-Wheel class, tuition reimbursement will be available. To receive this, hired applicants will receive a $300 reimbursement after driving with 30 students, and an additional $300 reimbursement after driving with 60 students.
