Machine Shop Supervisor
Shift: day shift
Aerospace manufacturing firm seeking a MACHINE SHOP SUPERVISOR.
- Supervise, and issue work assignments, to machining personnel..
- Provide leadership, coach, and train personnel to achieve product quality requirements, resource utilization goals and process efficiency standards.
- Maintain Safety, 5S, housekeeping, and equipment maintenance protocols.
- Review operations and documentation for compliance to customer requirements, company procedures and industry best practices.
- Coordinate use of manpower between jobs to meet priorities, delivery objectives, eliminate waste, and improved production flow.
- Work with Program Managers and Production Coordinators to provide job status and communicate all related information to management.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure machinists are operating according to planned work schedules and meeting delivery commitments to internal customers.
- Troubleshoot machine stoppages, manufacturing defects and process optimizations.
- Production Control (scheduling, prioritizing, expediting, and reporting) of all machine shop jobs to internal customers.
- May be required to operate machine tools as needed to meet production schedules
- Monitor machine maintenance, facilitate repairs and make capital equipment recommendations for items needing replacement.
- Handle human resource issues for staff including scheduling, discipline, and training/development.
- Lead continual improvement initiatives within machine shop.
- Develop, maintain, and report on capacity and machine schedules to maintain proper delivery schedules and internal deadlines.
- Maintain and report on facility maintenance and upkeep.
- Assist Estimating department with providing quotes for machining operations.
- Assist QA department with Root Cause investigations and Corrective Actions.
- Participate in management team meetings.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Reviews and approves daily clocking data for accuracy, job costing and accountability. Takes same-day corrective action in all cases to assure that time can be logged for all co-workers daily with no open issues.
- Hold personnel responsible for fully completing assignments, cleaning up, putting tools, unused parts, and supplies away, before moving to the next assignment or leaving at the end of the shift.
- Hold personnel responsible for following all company policies, procedures, and requirements (attendance and breaks, safety, standard operating, manufacturing, and maintenance procedures, employee handbook rules, etc.). Review attendance records and take action to address problems and abuse.
- Participates in the interviewing, and hiring, of the workforce.
- Provide additional supervisory coverage for other areas of the shop to cover vacation, sick time, etc., if needed.
Qualifications:
- Proficient in blueprint reading, mechanical knowledge, and precision measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers
- Experience in manufacturing, machining, and using CNC programming and CAM programming
- Familiarity with Fanuc, programmable logic controllers, and CNC machines
- Knowledge of GD&T, press brake machines, and CAD software
- Strong background in factory operations, tooling, and quality control processes

Pay: $25.00 - $33.00 per hour
