Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Interact with caregivers, patients, and family members in a positive manner to help build a and maintain strong relationships
- Problem solve and assist customers in order to meet or exceed patient needs and safety
- Assists pharmacists in preparation and dispensing of medications.
- Interacts with customers, physicians, clinic staff, and facility staff in a professional manner.
- Responsible for gathering appropriate information to properly process a patient’s prescription.
- Responsible for maintaining accurate records of medication and equipment dispensed to patients.
- Responsible for accurate entry of patient data into pharmacy software programs.
- Ensures that correct insurance information is entered into the system and that claims are properly adjudicated.
- Interacts with co-workers, pharmacists, and vendors to resolve any discrepancies and to improve processes.
- Secures protected health information and required paperwork to comply with regulatory requirements. Ensures the department abides by OSHA, HIPAA and other regulations pertaining to the company standards.
- Processes customer’s payment of prescriptions and charges on account.
- Maintains sufficient prescription inventory levels when ordering product for the pharmacy.
- Receives and stores incoming product and supplies including counting, stocking, and entering computer data.
- Assists in the development and training of department staff.
- Acts as a team lead on weekend shifts.
- Responsible for being an active participant on company teams..
- Required to attend and complete any mandatory training and events.
- Performs other miscellaneous activities as requested.
Requirement of the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services - Pharmacy Examining Board
Age and Education – Applicant satisfies one of the following:
-The applicant is at least 18 years of age and has graduated from high school or has attained high school graduation equivalence as determined by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI).
-The applicant is enrolled in a youth apprenticeship program for pharmacy technicians that is on the list of youth apprenticeship programs approved by the Department of Workforce Development (DWD) under Wis. Stat. § 106.132m).
