STRIDE Community Health Center is a 501(c)(3) Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) with a 30-year history of providing primary care and other health-related services in a community-based setting. Established in 1989 in response to the primary health care needs of the medically indigent population in suburban Denver, STRIDE Community Health Center has one of the largest population base of any FQHC in Colorado and provides primary care, dental, pharmacy, behavioral health, health education, care coordination, patient navigation, pharmacy, and outreach and enrollment services in accordance with its mission.

We are seeking a Dental Assistant Training Manager who holds that same value and wants to help our busy dental office serve our patients efficiently and compassionately. The ideal candidate will be friendly, outgoing, and highly organized. Must have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, high-energy environment. Responsible for informing, implementing, conducting and evaluating in-service programs, monthly lab audits, monthly medication inventory audits, new and established dental assistant competencies, orientation and continuing education for dental assistants and extended duties dental assistants. The Dental Assistant Training Manager also acts as a resource in informing educational policies and procedures; acts as a resource to staff and management; participates in performance improvement activities; serves on committees and establishes effective patient care delivery systems to ensure continuous quality improvement in patient care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides high quality, evidence-based dental assistant training across STRIDE CHC clinics and where appropriate.
- Curriculum implementation of new clinical training/training modules for
all levels of dental assistant training including DA apprenticeship program.
- Responsible for seeking more effective methods and contents to ensure delivery of high-quality dental clinical education.
- Meets regularly with staff to ensure consistent delivery systems across sites, assigns and reviews work, and removes barriers.
- Completes onboarding of newly hired dental assistants; oversees training and re-validation of annual competencies for dental assistant staff are completed.
- Effectively facilitates/implements quality improvement initiatives by providing positive guidance and communication to staff regarding patient experience survey data. (PCMH QI 04;QI 12)
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, participating in professional societies.
- Provides detailed and concise dental clinical practice performance results and reporting to the Director of Oral Health for strategic planning and organizational direction. (PCMH QI 16)
- Provide support to staff during new dental clinic implementations.
- Acts as a positive role model in promoting dental clinical excellence and offers expert professional development advice ensuring that high levels of dental clinical excellence and competence are maintained.
- Assists Director of Oral Health and other dental leaders with gathering, analyzing, and interpretation of data related to dental clinical education programs that have been presented.
- This position will require performing EDDA/DA clinical duties at least 15% of the time; approximately 8 hours per week.
Dental Clinical Responsibilities:
- Continuously provides quality dental care to all patients. Treats all patients with dignity and respect. Understands, follows, and maintains all Patient Rights.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation into the EMR for all dental patient care.
- Provides effective role modeling for dental assistants.
- Maintains confidentiality of all patients, department, and organization information, and follows HIPAA regulations.
- Consult and coordinate with internal and external partners to plan patients’ oral health activities, treatment, and referrals.
- Prepare patients for and assist with dental examinations and treatments.
- Provide support with assisting the provider in identifying and assessing patient’s condition.
- Clean and sterilize dental instruments and equipment. Ensure rooms are stocked with supplies.
- Perform administrative, front office functions, and schedule appointments as requested.
- Performs other position related duties as assigned.
- Attends all staff meetings and all other meetings as assigned.
- Attends relevant committees or groups that support work efforts.
- Reliable transportation.
- Valid driver’s license.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Proven back-office proficiency and/or 3 – 5 years of active experience as a Dental Assistant.
- Prior management experience in a dental office setting preferred.
- Previous training experience preferred.
- Experience with EMR preferred.
- Strong communications skills and excellent interpersonal skills required.
- Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills required.
- Skilled in Microsoft Suite including Word, Excel, Power Point, Project and Outlook.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment required.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registration
- Dental Assisting Certification (CDA) required.
- Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) preferred, or ability to become registered.
- Extended Duties Dental Assistant Certification (EDDA) required.
- BLS certification required.

- Ability to work independently and organize work in a manner that ensures accuracy and efficiency.
- Ability to demonstrate the capability to effectively and sensitively respond to the needs and concerns of the full range of STRIDE CHC’s diverse patient population.
- Customer service skills, including the ability to diffuse upset patients.
- Basic math skills required; a basic understanding of accounting helpful.
- Skill in using a variety of computer software including but not limited to the internet and MS Office Products.
- Ability to identify barriers to performance of others and provide coaching, training or other assistance to remove those barriers.
- Ability to handle sensitive information ethically and responsibly.
- Ability to collaborate and communicate with others effectively.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.

In an aim to help keep our patients, staff, and communities safe, STRIDE requires that all hired employees be fully COVID-19 vaccinated and to obtain an annual flu shot. STRIDE CHC employees are also required to be screened for tuberculosis and to complete a PPD test.
