Strides is hiring a Medical Billing specialist!
Set next to the mountains in Eagle Mountain, Strides Pediatric Therapy is an outpatient pediatric therapy clinic serving children with disabilities. Our facility sits on 10 acres with a clinic, indoor riding arena and equestrian facility all on site. We offer traditional occupational, physical, and speech therapy in addition to mental health services. With the intentional design and location of our facility, we are able to incorporate unique and meaningful treatments such as the use of equine movement (hippotherapy), adaptive riding, use of the natural environment as well as a child centered therapy clinic space. We believe that play and fun are essential to development!
As an organization, we are developed on an interdisciplinary concept and strong team approach for the children we serve. All of our therapists have access to ongoing mentorship, training and support as well as direct access to the organizational directors to create a close knit and supportive group.
The Medical Billing Account Specialist is expected to have a general knowledge of medical billing procedures including: consistently follow up on unpaid claims utilizing assigned tasks or aging reports, filing appeals when appropriate to obtain maximum reimbursement and establish and maintain strong relationships with providers, clients, patients and fellow staff. Secondary duties include but are not limited to: posting procedures and insurance/patient payments.
Job Description Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Knowledge several different coding systems, including CPT and ICD 10.
- Prepares and submits clean claims to various insurance companies electronically.
- Working within QuickEMR and EZ Claim.
- Working directly with the insurance company, healthcare provider, and patient to get a claim processed and paid.
- Follow up to see if a claim is accepted or denied.
- Investigate rejected claim to see why denial was issued. Reviewing and appealing unpaid and denied claims
- Ensure healthcare provider is reimbursed for all procedures.
- Identify and bill secondary or tertiary insurances
- Answer incoming calls from patient or insurance companies inquiries pertaining to accounts.
- Answers questions from patients, clerical staff and insurance companies.
- Performs various collection actions including contacting patients by phone, correcting and resubmitting claims to third party payers.
Qualifications and Skills
- Previous experience with billing for outpatient therapy (PT, OT, ST, MH)
- Prefer experience with pediatric outpatient therapy
- Maintains strictest confidentiality; adheres to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations.
- Must be well organized and detail-oriented.
- Excellent communication skills; both verbal and written
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced specialty clinic
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior Electronic Medical Records(EMR) experience Preferred (QuickEMR and EZClaim)
- Experience with state of Utah insurances and regulations or willingness and ability to learn
