However, as our business scales, we face challenges with fragmented systems, unreliable reporting, and slow data gathering. We’re looking for our first dedicated data hire—a Data & Systems Architect—who will take the lead in building a centralized data infrastructure from the ground up. This is a unique opportunity to shape how data is structured, accessed, and leveraged across our rapidly growing company.
Role Overview:
As our first Data & Systems Architect, you will have the opportunity to lay the foundation for a data-driven culture, designing and implementing a scalable infrastructure that powers smarter decision-making across operations, marketing, and finance. You'll build a centralized database, streamline integrations across multiple platforms, and automate key data flows to ensure real-time, reliable insights.
Beyond the technical build, you’ll be a strategic partner—helping leadership identify the biggest opportunities for efficiency, growth, and competitive advantage through better data. This is a high-impact role where your work will directly influence business outcomes, providing clarity in decision-making and unlocking new levels of operational efficiency.

Responsibilities:
- Work closely with stakeholders to identify business needs and design effective data architecture solutions that align with their requirements.
- Design & implement a scalable database (BigQuery, Snowflake, or similar) to consolidate data from multiple sources (Shopify, Amazon, financial tools, marketing platforms, etc.).
- Data types include (not are not limited to) eCommerce unit sales, PPC advertising, shipping and fulfillment data, financial data, Google and iOS app data, etc.
- Most data sources have pipelines supported by Fivetran, etc, but in rare cases custom ETL/ELT pipelines may be needed
- Build user-friendly reporting tools or dashboards (Looker Studio, Tableau, Retool, or custom-built front-end).
- Examine and understand the relationships and dependencies among various components within a complex system.
- Architect API integrations between key systems to ensure seamless data flow and accessibility.
- Work cross-functionally with operations, marketing, and finance teams to understand business needs and translate them into scalable data solutions.
- Ensure data accuracy and reliability, reducing manual data gathering and reporting errors.
- Collaborate closely with team leadership to foster shared accountability for quality, timelines, and deliverables.
Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience in data architecture, engineering, or business intelligence, ideally within an e-commerce environment.
- Notable experience with business operations and logistics.
- Expertise in database technologies (BigQuery, Snowflake, Redshift, or similar).
- Strong SQL skills for querying and structuring data efficiently.
- Experience with API integrations and data pipeline tools (Airbyte, Fivetran, Stitch, etc.).
- Proficiency in BI tools (Looker Studio, Tableau, Power BI, or Retool).
- Understanding of e-commerce metrics (sales performance, inventory, CAC, LTV, etc.).
- Exposure to Shopify, Amazon Seller Central, Quickbooks
- Ability to work independently and drive projects from planning to execution.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to see both technical and business challenges.
- Deep knowledge of data architecture principles, data modeling strategies, and best practices for data governance.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with Python, dbt, or data transformation tools.
- Familiarity with no-code/low-code automation platforms (Zapier, Make).
- Exposure to or familiarity with IMS systems (such as Cin7, Zoho, etc), Meta advertising, Google Analytics
