Job Description
Our company provides full-service management to trade and professional associations as well as specialized services including non-profit financial management and event coordination. We are seeking a full-time Senior Staff Accountant to support our Finance team with a multitude of accounting activities including preparation of financial statements, month-end/year-end close and account analysis.
Primary Responsibilities:
Works with CFO and Accounting Manager to oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the accounting department. Helps manage and prepare month-end financial reporting and preparation for the annual financial review/audit and budgeting process.
- Ensure financial policies of the Company and all our clients are maintained and followed.
- Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure of multiple client associations, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all accounts.
- Review mid-month and month-end accounts payable. Submit payables to association Treasurer for approval.
- Review cash balances for associations, make transfers and applicable journal entries.
- Manage monthly closing of financial statements, monthly P/L account analysis and generate month-end financial statements and reports.
- Set up new bank accounts and update association signature cards.
- Develop and document accounting policies, procedures, and workflows.
- Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements and automation.
- Assist with applications for required insurance policies for clients.
- Support the accounting department with special projects as assigned.
Requirements:
Education & Experience – Bachelor’s degree with major courses in accounting, business administration, or closely related field preferred. 5 to 10 years of general ledger accounting experience.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities –
· Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
· Accuracy required.
· Experience with integrated accounting software, Sage 50 and QuickBooks preferred.
· Advanced Excel experience.
· Ability to manage heavy workload, multiple projects and deadlines.
· Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment and maintain sustained concentration on financial data.
Preferred Skills – Strong understanding of insurance policies and requirements of a non-profit association is a plus.
Job Location –The location of this position would be a combination of in-office (at least 1-2 days/week, to start) and remote.
