POSITION SUMMARY

Repairs and maintains machinery and equipment in the stores and offices by performing the following duties using tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, drills, wrenches, saws, refrigeration test tools, electrical meters, HVAC testing equipment, ladders, etc.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Customer Service

  • Provides top-level customer service by responding to customer inquiries and concerns.
  • Serves customers by maintaining our company’s philosophy of being friendly, professional and efficient.
  • Represents the company interests with highest standards of performance excellence
  • Partners with applicable business functions (namely operations and business support) ensuring highest level of collaboration & partnership.
  • Suggests ways to increase preventative maintenance and general system uptime resulting in financial savings for company
  • Monitors equipment to assure exceptional performance.
  • Restores service on downed equipment & systems thus maximizing company’s ability to service customers and optimize profitability
  • Utilizes & leverages reporting to maximize service capabilities and company profitability

 

Operations

  • Performs daily highly technical repairs and maintenance to major equipment to ensure that the equipment continues to run to manufacturer’s specifications and the physical condition of the store does not deteriorate.
  • Installs major equipment to required manufacturer’s specification and standards.
  • Diagnoses major equipment and building problems and examines solutions for repair.
  • Dismantles equipment to gain access to and remove defective parts.
  • Assists in the installation of equipment resulting from special projects as assigned.
  • Performs regular inspections of stores and informs supervisor of any problem areas.
  • Estimates repair costs for completion of project and informs appropriate management personnel of cost.
  • Inspect, operate and test equipment in order to diagnose equipment malfunctions.
  • Maintain parts and supplies needed for job completion and accounts for appropriate levels.
  • Paint, repair roofs, windows, doors, floors and other parts of building structures.
  • Diagnose equipment problems and determine how to correct them as necessary.
  • Records maintenance and repair work performed and the costs of the work by completing the SWO’s in a timely manner.
  • Completes transfer forms for accurate inventory part counts and proper allocation.
  • Assist Service Supervisor in cost control efforts and in identifying major capital budget request.
  • Assist with various duties as assigned.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

 

  • Education/experience: High School degree or GED equivalent is required. A minimum of three (3) years related experience is required.
  • Certificates & Licenses:
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Certification from an accredited Trade School or College. Must be CFC certified minimal Type II, preferably Universal, if applicable.
  • Other Requirements:
  • A satisfactory driving record required
  • Ability to drive a service vehicle safely
  • Willing and able to travel long distances as part of the primary supervisory responsibility

 

Skills:

  • Ability to lead team and train other technicians.
  • Must possess good electrical, mechanical, diagnostic and analytical skills.
  • Ability to read and understand wiring diagrams and equipment schematics.
  • Ability to use digital multi-meter to perform troubleshooting.
  • Ability to perform the four basic arithmetic operations (add, subtract, multiple, divide).
  • Ability to work with various hand and power tools.
  • Ability to interact with store personnel, customers, and management in a professional courteous manner.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and procedures manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to work flexible hours such as weekends, on-call, evenings and holidays.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to operate a forklift and pallet jacks with proper training.
  • Basic computer skills

The employee is occasionally required to sit and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, bend, twist and climb ladder and work at heights of above eight (8) feet. The employee will handle liquids, plastic, glass, paper, rubber, petroleum products and may work in conditions that may contain hydrocarbons.
