JOB SUMMARY
Perform clinical duties under the direction of a physician or other licensed provider. The individual will function as both a Medical Assistant (MA) and a Registered Radiologic Technologist (RT), performing administrative and clinical tasks in a healthcare setting, alongside operating imaging equipment like X-ray machines to capture diagnostic images under the supervision of a physician; requiring proficiency in both medical assisting duties and radiography techniques.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Verifying patients' identity and reviewing physicians’ orders before beginning x-ray procedures.
· Using x-ray equipment to take radiographic images of patients' bones, tissues, and organs as per physicians’ written orders.
· Explaining x-ray procedures to patients and answering their questions.
· Positioning patients accordingly, which may include lifting and moving patients with limited mobility.
· Limiting patients' exposure to radiation by placing lead shields on patients where needed.
· Ensuring that the x-rays taken are of sound quality to prevent repeat procedures.
· Maintaining an accurate record of completed x-ray procedures
· Show patients to examination rooms and prepare them for the physician.
· Obtain and record patients' medical history, vital statistics, or information such as test results in medical records.
· Prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician.
· Collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens, and prepare them for testing.
· Perform routine laboratory tests and sample analyses.
· Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, or physicians' instructions to patients.
· Help physicians examine and treat patients, handing them instruments or materials or performing such tasks as giving injections or removing sutures.
· Operate electrocardiogram (EKG), or other equipment to administer routine diagnostic tests.
· Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms stocked, neat and clean.
· Perform general office duties, such as answering telephones, taking dictation, or completing insurance forms.
· Gets authorization from insurance companies for approved referrals
· Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
