Heavy Equipment Maintenance Manager
The Heavy Equipment Maintenance Manager’s main focus is to provide oversight and leadership to our fleet and maintenance operations and support staff to ensure the fleet service requirements are completed in a timely, safe and efficient manner. The Heavy Equipment Maintenance Manager is responsible for the coordination of all activities related to maintenance, preventative maintenance, repair, cleaning and quality of workmanship of the fleet, building maintenance and company owned tools by overseeing the maintenance employees and support staff. This position is expected to operate with a wide latitude for decision making and requires collaborative and independent judgement. The Heavy Equipment Maintenance Manager will work with various company leaders to ensure a positive customer and employee experience.
The Heavy Equipment Maintenance Manager will report directly to the CEO.
Responsibilities
· Oversee and execute scheduling of all planned repair work to increase productivity and allocate resources appropriately among multiple trucks and equipment.
· Execute an on-going preventative maintenance program, including identifying trends in road calls, breakdowns and maintenance needs.
· Provide direction and coaching to the Mechanic Team to ensure that all maintenance and repairs are performed in a safe, efficient and timely manner.
· Implement 5S throughout entire garage and all related processes.
· Work with the Field Safety Manager to assess equipment safety and training needs.
· Ensure compliance with Company safety standards, as well as federal and state regulations, including maintenance of repair records and other required documentation.
· Maintain advanced knowledge of engine, emission systems, transmission, brake, hydraulic and electrical systems of heavy equipment and vehicles used by the Company, as well as staying up to date on changes to federal and state regulations for heavy equipment.
· Develop and execute procedures within the fleet department to ensure all documentation is organized and compliant with OSHA and SDS documents are up to date for all maintenance and garage chemicals.
· Manage fleet monitoring system.
· Create and manage maintenance and repair budget.
· Hire and manage certified mechanics for the in-house mechanic needs.
· Manage the fleet vendors that provide outside mechanics and repairs to ensure we are getting the best price and service.
· Determine when vehicles need to be removed from the fleet and procure the sale and transition of the vehicle.
· Ensure the maintenance garage is clean and organized.
· Meet or exceed all KPIs and goals as assigned.
Qualifications
· Minimum of 5 years' industry experience in fleet maintenance management or operations management capacity within the auto/diesel industry.
· Bachelor’s Degree in Automotive Technology, Business Management or related field.
· Lean Six Sigma background with focus on 5S processes.
· Must have heavy duty fleet experience and Prior technician/mechanic experience.
· MS Office and fleet management systems.
· Valid driver’s license and CDL required.
· Excellent driving and safety record.
· Ability to solve problems and make real-time decisions.
· Able to lead employees to perform the highest quality work and exceed expectations.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills.

SALARY BASED ON EXPERIENCE
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: Up to $150,000.00 per year
