HOURS:
-Monday through Friday
-9:00am-5:30pm standard
-Seasonal/as needed schedule change 11:00am-7:30
POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Sanitation Technician is responsible for providing sanitation services in a safe and effective manner. Duties include cleaning and disinfecting all areas of the workplace. The Technician also inspects and maintains equipment. The Technician must adhere to all safety guidelines and follow proper sanitation protocols. Good organizational and communication skills are a must.
Sanitation Technicians also inspect areas for safety and cleanliness and identify and report any health or safety issues that need to be addressed. Ultimately, Sanitation Technicians play an important role in maintaining the health and safety of an environment.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- Operate and maintain sanitation equipment, including power washers, pressure washers, vacuums, and other cleaning equipment
- Maintain sanitation equipment, including cleaning, lubricating, and conducting minor repairs
- Responsible for the preparation of cleaning/sanitation solutions and cleaning materials to specifications.
- Clean and sanitize equipment and areas, following safety procedures and instructions
- Must always possess the willingness to learn new concepts to fully understand aseptic technique and demonstrate proper cleanroom behavior
- Operate forklift or other material handling equipment when necessary
- Maintain inventory of supplies and communicate orders as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee must frequently lift, push, pull, and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee frequently is required to stand for extended periods up to 8 hours. And have the ability to climb ladders and cross elevated catwalks.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Indoor and outdoor facilities at the farm; exposure to heat, cold, potentially hazardous chemicals, toxic materials; work on slippery or uneven surfaces. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places. Required to work in confined areas. Required to work an 8-hour shift and some overtime as needed.
SKILLS:
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to use specialized tools and equipment
- Ability to lift heavy objects and climb ladders
- Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle and forklift
- Ability to interact professionally with coworkers
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Show up consistently and on time.
- Must be highly dependable, focused, organized and detailed-oriented possessing excellent time management and communication skills.
- Maintain a positive and clean work environment for all employees.
- Clear, concise, and consistent communications via email, phone, text, and in person.
EDUCATION AND BACKGROUND PREFERENCES:
- High school diploma or GED
- Bilingual Spanish and English
- Experience in sanitary technology
- Knowledge of safety and health standards
- Ability to effectively use cleaning and sanitizing equipment and products
