What are the responsibilities and job description for the Release Train Engineer position at Strong Bridge Envision Consulting?
HCL Technologies is seeking an experienced Release Train Engineer to join our firm as a dedicated full-time employee. The RTE will facilitate ART events and processes, assist teams in delivering value, will escalate impediments, help manage risk and will drive relentless improvement. This position is located in Richmond, VA and does not offer relocation (due to Covid 19 restrictions, the role is being worked remotely until the client site opens back up next year).
Responsibilities:
- Manage and optimize the flow of value through the ART using various tools, such as the Program Kanbans and other information radiators
- Establish and communicate the annual calendars for Iterations and Program Increments (PIs)
- Facilitate PI Planning readiness by fostering Continuous Exploration process which drives the synthesis of Vision, Roadmap, Backlogs, and Pre- and Post-PI meetings
- Facilitate the PI planning event
- Summarize Team PI Objectives into Program PI Objectives (the RTE) and publish them for visibility and transparency
- Assist tracking the execution of features
- Facilitate periodic synchronization meetings, including the ART sync at the Program Level
- Coach leaders, teams, and Scrum Masters in Lean-Agile practices and mindsets
- Help manage risks and dependencies
- Escalate and track impediments
- Provide input on resourcing to address critical bottlenecks
- Encourage collaboration across the program
- Help drive the Lean User Experience (UX) innovation cycle
- Work with Product Management, Product Owners and other stakeholders to help ensure strategy and execution alignment and operational excellence
- Improve the flow of value through value streams by improving and assessing the DevOps and Release on Demand competency
- Drive relentless improvement via Inspect and Adapt workshops; assess the agility level of the ART and help them improve
- Foster Communities of Practice and the use of engineering and Built-In Quality practices
Qualifications & Experience:
- At least 5 years of experience in a similar position
- Experience working budgets; cost optimization and metrics
- Experience pulling data and putting metrics into a dashboard (JIRA, Tableau experience preferred)
- Ability to challenge the teams and drive accountability
- Must be able to guide teams with IP sprints
- Must have a good understanding of Software Engineering process, Healthcare domain knowledge is highly desirable
- Excellent communication skills and proven ability to communicate effectively across the organization especially with stakeholders
- Strong knowledge and understanding of SAFe Agile principles; SaFe certification preferred
- Strong experience working on JIRA for epics, stories, issues and task management
- Strong knowledge of managing product build teams
- A talent for multi-tasking, meeting deadlines, learning new skills and methodologies, and working under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently
- Flexible working style, ability to work in various types of client environments
- Ability to lead decision making through influence, with the ability to make sound decisions in the best interest of the client as needed throughout the project lifecycle
- Collaborative working style with the ability to flex with many different types of working styles on client site
- Industry experience in Insurance/Healthcare desired
