Position Summary
The Senior Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates at different stages of project development, managing bid processes, and working closely with clients, subcontractors, and internal project teams. This role requires deep industry knowledge, strong analytical skills, and leadership in preconstruction efforts and cost management .
Key Responsibilities
Estimating & Cost Analysis :
Develop comprehensive cost estimates from conceptual design through final construction pricing .
Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and ensure accurate pricing for labor, materials, and equipment.
Analyze bid proposals, subcontractor quotes, and market conditions to determine the most competitive and accurate pricing strategies.
Negotiate pricing and contractual terms with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitive bidding.
Lead estimate reviews and value engineering efforts to optimize project costs.
Preconstruction Management :
Assist in project feasibility studies , budgeting, and financial planning.
Review and interpret architectural and engineering drawings , project specifications, and requirements.
Collaborate with project managers and design teams to assess constructability, risks, and schedule impacts .
Maintain and update estimating databases and historical cost data.
Communication & Leadership :
Act as the primary estimating lead on assigned projects, ensuring seamless communication with internal teams and external stakeholders.
Guide and mentor junior estimators and preconstruction staff .
Ensure clear and consistent communication with clients, subcontractors, and vendors throughout the estimating process.
Participate in project meetings, review schedules, and provide preconstruction support to project managers.
Qualifications & Skills :
6-8 years of experience in construction estimating, with a strong background in commercial projects.
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field preferred.
Deep knowledge of general conditions, fee calculations, and construction scheduling .
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point, & Teams) required.
Experience with estimating software such as Building Connected, On-Screen Takeoff, Planswift, Beck Technologies Destini Estimator, and Timberline Estimator preferred.
Strong negotiation and decision-making skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
