Structure Resources is seeking a highly skilled Shop Supervisor. Our client is a leading provider of innovative solutions in the industrial sector, specializing in engineering, fabrication, and industrial coatings. The Shop Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing daily shop operations, ensuring high-quality output, and fostering a safe and productive work environment.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Oversee the daily operations of the manufacturing shop, ensuring efficiency, safety, and adherence to production schedules.
- Manage and direct the workflow of shop employees, including welders, fabricators, and coating specialists, while ensuring all orders meet high-quality standards.
- Implement 5S and lean manufacturing principles to improve shop floor operations.
- Proactively address production delays, material shortages, and equipment breakdowns to minimize disruptions.
- Provide technical support and development opportunities for team members, including coaching and skill enhancement.
- Work with engineering teams to implement process improvements, such as cost reductions and workflow optimization.
- Maintain high levels of communication with engineering, project management, and quality control teams to meet client specifications and delivery timelines.
- Assist in accident investigations and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Ensure fair and consistent application of company policies and procedures.
- Balance time between hands-on production work and managerial responsibilities, adjusting based on production needs.
- Perform other tasks as directed by management.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Shop Supervisor or similar role within the manufacturing or steel fabrication industry.
- Strong understanding of steel fabrication processes, including welding, cutting, and coating techniques.
- Experience with operating steel processing equipment, such as plasma tables, hydraulic brake presses, and ironworkers.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Previous experience with ERP systems (preferred).
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to guide and develop team members.
- In-depth knowledge of safety protocols and compliance standards.
- Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds and operating forklifts and overhead cranes.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
