Structured Cable of VA was established in 1999 and is employee-owned. We provide products and services for security solutions, video surveillance, mesh network enhancement, and audio/video installations for residential and commercial customers. We are looking for a skilled, motivated technician to join our team.

Job Summary

As a Wiring Technician at Structured Cable of Virginia under the Operations Team, you will be an essential part of our mission to provide top-tier security, surveillance, and home entertainment solutions for our residential and commercial clients. Your experience, talents and expertise will ensure that our customers’ needs are met with utmost precision and dedication.

The Wiring Technician role consists of three bands - Senior Technician, Junior Technician and Technician Support. Depending on your skill, experience and expertise level, we will assign you to the appropriate band upon joining our team and provide you with career and skill development opportunities.

Key job requirements

Must:

• Installation and Wiring: Pull new wires through residential and commercial properties before and after drywall installation for a seamless cabling infrastructure. Install security equipment such as panel, door and window contacts, motion and smoke detectors, and cameras (both wireless and hardwired). Splice, terminate, and test various low-voltage data cables.
• Wiring Schematics: Read and interpret wiring schematics to guide the installation and troubleshooting processes effectively
• Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with leadership and sales team to generate ideas and provide insight to improve operations and increase revenue.
• Access Control: Have some experience in Access Control system installation.
• Troubleshooting and Repair: Able to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair security systems and equipment already installed.
• TV/Electronic Component Installation: Experience in installing the following, but limited to, A/V systems, in-wall/ceiling speakers, A/V racks, and wireless network setup and management

Qualification requirements

• DCJS License
• High school diploma or GED certificate
• Strong knowledge of safe low-voltage wiring practices
• Good problem-solving skills
• Physical ability to stand, crouch, and lift objects of at least 50 lbs., able to climb a ladder, work at heights and have good manual dexterity during an 8-hour shift
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Driver's license in good standing
• Consent to conduct criminal background checks upon hiring
