What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operations Manager position at Stryker DES?
Stryker DES is seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of Operations Manager. Candidates will help deliver Stryker DES’s core values: excellence in service, commitment to health and safety, and attention to regulatory compliance. Candidates will report to the Vice President of Stryker DES.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as liaison between Ownership and Field Managers/Site Supervisors.
- Manage equipment and manpower for large projects or multiple smaller projects.
- Coordinate with Project Managers to share labor and equipment resources.
- Coordinate planning for labor, equipment and hauling for multiple project, crews and project managers, including the deployment of company assets from the home office.
- Work with Project managers to address and manage technical or administrative problems that arise during project execution and to ensure objectives are met.
- Oversight of company automotive and heavy equipment fleets and maintenance programs
- Manage warehouse staff, inventory and supply deliveries.
- Solicit and procure favorable pricing from vendors for equipment and supplies.
- Train and mentor field construction personnel in order to ensure their professional success.
- Communicate effectively with field staff, project management and company management.
- Work with the Safety Department to coordinate training and implementation of safety programs.
- Responsible for assisting Project Managers in the facilitation of lodging as required for field labor
- Establishing and maintaining positive working relationships clients, owner’s representatives, design professionals, building officials, subcontractors, and local businesses.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 10 plus years’ experience in construction, construction management, decommissioning or demolition.
- Demonstrated experience effectively coordinating project crews.
- Strong commitment to health and safety.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project, Outlook).
- Strong Verbal and Written Communication and organization skills, particularly on client project work sites.
- Knowledge of heavy equipment usage and maintenance programs.
- A criminal background check, drug and alcohol screen will be conducted.
- Must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Stryker DES's driving (MVR) policy.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Experience on large industrial demolition projects.
- Experience with developing and/or understanding budgets.
- Experience with proposal preparation and cost estimating. Specific software experience is beneficial but not required. Experience with developing proposal cost estimates using knowledge of company demolition and asbestos crew productivity, and subcontractor/vendor pricing is preferred.
- Direct experience with leading and providing Supervision, Staffing, Project Management, Process Improvement, Tracking Budget Expenses, Self-Development, Planning, Performance Management.
- Understanding of Architectural and Structural Plans.
- Ability to pass a security clearance.
- 40-hour HAZWOPER, OSHA 10 or 30 a plus
- Asbestos training is a plus.
EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full-time salary position

TRAVEL: This is an office based position that requires moderate travel to Stryker DES projects and proposal sites located mostly in the eastern half of the United States. Travel duration and frequency will vary based project work-load.
