Job Summary
Sun Tribe EPC (ST EPC) is Virginia's premier utility scale Solar design and build firm focused on designing and constructing sub 20MW ground mounted Solar Photovoltaic (PV) facilities. The Project Management team is responsible for planning and executing projects pursuant to terms of turnkey engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) agreements.
The Project Manager is responsible for coordinating and directing all aspects of the work, managing the schedule and resources, and controlling risks and changes. The Project Manager establishes and maintains professional working relationships with project stakeholders, including subcontractors, vendors, clients, consultants, regulatory agencies, host facilities, and personnel from complementary Departments within the Company. The Project Manager role may oversee more than one project concurrently.
The Project Manager reports to the Vice President Project Management Operations and may supervise an Assistant Project Manager.
Responsibilities
Project Leadership
- Ensures all company HSSE systems and processes are in place and followed and that safety first culture is established and maintained.
- Leads the organization's delivery of projects in line with key objectives
- Responsible for bottom line performance and P&L of all assigned projects.
- Directs and guides the project team, ensuring that project objectives and priorities are understood, and that plans are formed and executed.
- Follows established processes to ensure that plan implementation is consistent across the project team and organization; challenges established processes in pursuit of perpetual improvement
- Manages partners including subcontractors, vendors, and consultants, in support of project execution
- Directs daily activity of project's Assistant Project Managers including the assignment of specific project tasks
Planning
Serves as organization's SME on project source documents including prime EPC agreement and developer deliverablesDevelops and manages a plan to execute the project within contractual limitations and in alignment with project chartersCoordinates project kick-off meetings (internal and external).Works in collaboration with Preconstruction Managers to review the estimate and allocate estimated items to the final project budgetDevelops, maintains, and leverages comprehensive project schedules; actively uses schedules to plan and manage work, including labor, equipment, and material requirementsPrepares and submits all non-discretionary permit applications to local, state, and federal authorities having jurisdiction; obtain permits; always maintains full compliance with all permitsManages system interconnection agreement requirements with the local utilityCoordinates system commissioning and performance testing with the Sun Tribe-internal quality and engineering departments, utilities, owners, third-party engineers, and othersDevelops and maintains contingency plans; implements as neededActive Monitoring
Manages project budgets; report weekly costs-to-date, estimated costs to complete, committed costs, cost risks and mitigation strategies, cost-saving opportunities, etc.Interfaces with accounting department to process incoming and outgoing invoices and forecast and manage project cash flowsApproves subcontractor pay applicationsManages the project quality control program to ensure that processes are consistently implemented according to the plan; delivers the specified productEnsures Sun Tribe site personnel are procuring materials, equipment, and labor in accordance with the project budget and company processesChange Management
Accurately identifies risks to project outcomes in advance and undertakes mitigating activityIdentifies and documents project restraints in systems of record including their impact on project outcomesMarshalls internal and external resources as necessary to resolve project restraintsSecures Change Orders from clients as appropriate.Evaluates and negotiates Change Orders from subcontractorsSubcontracting
Effectively manages contracts (prime, subcontracts, purchase orders) including exhibits and ancillary documentsDrafts, reviews, manages, and improves subcontracts; identifies and negotiates key terms; manages riskDevelops RFP packages, administers RFP processes, evaluates proposals, value engineers, negotiates contracts and subcontractsCommunication
Ensures that owner reporting occurs in line with contractual obligationsLeads effective internal and external weekly project meetingsMaintains accurate schedules and cost estimates in systems of recordEnsures timely and accurate project reporting to internal and external stakeholdersDelivers to the organization concise status and actionable intelligenceCommunicates effectively with clients to continuously earns their respectBasic Qualifications Required
Degree required : Bachelor's Degree in construction management, business, engineering or other related field is preferredA minimum four (4) years' experience in project management requiredHold or are in the process of obtaining :1. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification through the Project Management Institute or Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)
2. Procore certification(s)
