Position Overview
This position is classified as full-time, exempt. Typical days and hours of work are Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm. This position regularly requires long hours and occasional weekend work.
This position is a production role to create safe and efficient work instructions for all production processes for bar and plate manufacturing in a fast paced environment. This role will interface with sales, quality, purchasing, production, and management to take customer and material requirements and generate a manufacturing process that can be followed both internally and externally. This position will play an active role in continuous improvements in areas of safety, material yield, cost reduction, quality control, and production scheduling.
Other duties may be assigned. In performing functions, duties or tasks, employees are required to know and follow safe work practices, and to be aware of Company policies and procedures related to job safety, including safety rules and regulations. All functions, duties or tasks are to be carried out in an honest, ethical, and professional manner, and to be performed in conformance with applicable Company policies and procedures.

Production Planning & Heat Treat Manager
Required Education, Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor/Associate degree in Engineering or equivalent industry experience (Mechanical, manufacturing, aerospace).
Must maintain and uphold quality practices and safety standards.
Must be able to communicate, verbally and written, with managers and coworkers.
Self-starter who is looking for opportunities to grow and be cross trained in other aspects of the business.
Ability to analyze data, justify assumptions, and formulate conclusions to present findings to department and/or management.
Ability to read and interpret technical documents including customer prints and specifications.
Must be able to proactively help identify problems and seek to find solutions.
Proficient computer skills with Microsoft tools (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint)
Experience In Open/closed Die Forging And/or Bar Production Preferred.
Experience in aerospace manufacturing environment preferred.
Understanding of industry specifications (eg AS9100, NADCAP, AMS, etc.) preferred.
Must be able to work overtime as required.

Responsibilities
Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions) :
- Timely release of manufacturing documentation that provides instructions to manufacture product, both internal and external processes.
- Plan, create, and release orders for all aspects of forging, grinding, heat treatment, non-destructive testing, destructive testing, machining/cutting, and other manufacturing processes. Orders shall be in line with customer purchase order requirements, industry specifications and metallurgical best practices.
- Works daily with others in planning, quality, shop floor, shipping, certification and management to develop/refine processes and report achievements or issues.
- Makes decisions regarding process and lot sizing based on cost drivers and customer demand.
- Works on developing new processes for manufacturing.
- Reads and deciphers customer prints, technical drawings, and material specifications to generate instructions for processes and operations.
- Will focus and lead continuous improvement projects in planning, quality, material yield and manufacturing to reduce cost and improve efficiency.
- Develop and document standard best practices for all production areas.
- Document metallurgical best practices including forging, straightening, and heat treating.
- Will run/use MRP and other reports to review and release material based on customer and company requirements.
- Will use knowledge of costing and manufacturing to create cost efficient plans for manufacturing.
- Will use data and subsequent analysis to determine new methods to improve processes.
- Will be cross trained to support other internal production/purchasing roles in the production/manufacturing organization.
