Employment Status: Part-time
FLSA Status: Non-exempt (Hourly)
Workdays & Working Hours: Weekend masses, Wednesday evening rehearsals, other masses & rehearsals as needed
Reports to: Pastor and/or Director of Music & Liturgy
The Pianist will be responsible for performing music at various parish services, including Sunday Vigil Mass and may be contracted to perform at other liturgical events as necessary. Must have demonstrated experience with piano and organ.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides accompaniment support to the 9:30am Mass choir and Wednesday evening rehearsal, other Masses and rehearsals as needed.
- Assists Pastor and/ or Director of Music and Liturgy in securing other instrumentalists as needed
- Is available to perform at special events including weddings, funerals and other events as needed
Additional Responsibilities:
- Attend all Archdiocese required training
- Actively participates in all “required” attendance of Parish events as directed by Pastor and/ or Director of Music and Liturgy
Requirements
Education and Experience:
- High School degree or equivalent
- Ability to play Piano and Organ
- Understanding of Music Theory
- Excellent ability to Sight Read
- Ability to communicate with all levels of staff and management
- Must pass archdiocesan Safe Environment Requirements and background screening.
Preferred Additional:
- Previous experience/ knowledge of Roman Catholic Liturgy
- Must have demonstrated experience with various instruments specifically; piano and organ.
