The Commissioning Specialist is responsible for planning, supporting, and/or implementing construction project completions and commissioning across various facilities, including commercial and industrial installations. This role includes tracking, testing, and managing documentation to ensure compliance with project contractual requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the review of contractual specifications for project completion and commissioning requirements.
- Oversee the creation, verification, and finalization of turnover boundaries and turnover packages.
- Establish and maintain tracking, reporting, and turnover documentation for projects, ensuring field teams understand and implement tools per specifications.
- Coordinate vendor requirements with personnel responsible for commissioning efforts on client projects.
- Develop and implement commissioning and startup plans.
- Guide field teams during the execution of completion and commissioning plans.
- Perform accept/reject verifications of equipment construction status and completion.
- Inspect installed devices and ensure field-required setup and verifications are complete.
- Manage coordination, testing, pre-commissioning, and commissioning phases, addressing issues and equipment/device requirements.
- Maintain proper documentation of activities and adherence to defined processes to support company record-keeping and reporting, including turnover documentation.
- Lead Assistant- and Staff-level personnel in Completions and Commissioning activities.
- Provide leadership on Completions and Commissioning projects, including proposal support.
- Operate and understand various testing equipment, logical controllers, and field control systems (PLCs) as integrated into startup procedures.
Oversee and support project work activities, including:
- Mechanical: piping, rotating equipment, stationary equipment, steel, welding, rigging, insulation, heat trace, paint, hydrostatic testing, fire protection, and coatings.
- Electrical: installation, conduit, cable pulls, relay testing, substation setup, and terminations (as applicable to skill set).
- Fulfill responsibilities as a Mechanical or Electrical Superintendent.
- Adhere to and promote company and site safety policies.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Comply with all company policies and standards.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience (one of the following):
- High School Diploma/GED and 11 years of Completions and/or Commissioning experience.
- Associate Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering, Construction Management, or a relevant field, with 9 years of Completions and/or Commissioning experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering, Construction Management, or a relevant field, with 7 years of Completions and/or Commissioning experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Skilled in Bluebeam and cloud-based software.
