Structural Designer
The Structural Designer will be responsible for various phases of planning, site evaluations, analytical design, report preparation, specification development, and the creation of proposal and construction documentation. This role will work as part of a project team on diverse projects across multiple industries and clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop detailed construction drawings for steel and reinforced concrete structures using structural specifications, engineering calculations, sketches, and design information in accordance with project standards and procedures.
- Produce a full range of drawing production work, including problem analysis, design layout, and calculations for complex and non-routine assignments.
- Execute designs for industrial, manufacturing, and other facility-related projects, ranging from modifications to new facility construction.
- Perform 2D drafting and 3D modeling tasks, ensuring designs adhere to engineering standards and procedures.
- Utilize prescribed methods and standard techniques to complete assignments, including sequencing drawings, sizing system components, and refining rough sketches.
- Develop rough designs, sketches, and redlines/markups for ongoing projects.
- Prepare structural calculations and apply design codes and specifications as required.
- Design structural elements and details while ensuring compliance with relevant codes and project requirements.
- Complete and review design drawings within scope, budget, and schedule constraints.
- Integrate schedules, budgets, and project criteria into structural designs and layouts.
- Organize and maintain project drawings, plot files, and related documentation in a logical and well-structured manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Comply with all company policies and standards.
Requirements:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in drafting technology or a related field with 7 years of relevant experience OR
- Associate degree with 8 years of relevant experience OR
- 9 years of progressive detailing and design experience.
Technical Skills:
- Advanced proficiency in design software, including AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, and Excel for developing design deliverables.
- Strong knowledge of design principles, calculations, and structural design systems.
- Solid understanding of structural engineering theory and practices, along with fundamental knowledge of related disciplines.
- Proficiency in discipline-specific design software to support production tasks.
Soft Skills:
- Ability to collaborate effectively with Project Managers, Engineers, and Designers in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail abilities.
