Lead Process Engineer - Position and Responsibilities
As a Lead Process Engineer, Food & Beverage, you will collect and prepare data / information and perform detailed engineering calculations. The Lead Process Engineer will also perform engineering design and analysis on complex or unique problems and will coach / develop less experienced engineers, designers, and drafters. As the Lead Process Engineer, you will also demonstrate technical / professional growth annually by maintaining active membership in professional organizations and participating in technical seminars / courses.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following :
Collect and prepare data / information, perform detailed engineering calculations, and write formal engineering / technical reports.
Develop technical specifications and data sheets, perform technical evaluation of bids, and recommend best value design which meets client requirements for operability, reliability, maintainability, and safety.
Provide field leadership work by checking installations and problem-solving activities.
Perform calculation checking and vendor drawing reviews.
Serve as a Project Lead for more complex projects by estimating work hours, developing scope of work, making staffing recommendations, and checking project deliverables prior to issuance.
Interact with other departments and suppliers to obtain pertinent information.
Education, Experience and Skills
The successful candidate will possess the following :
Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering required.
20 years of experience performing basic engineering analysis and design functions.
Process flow drawing (PFD) and P&ID development experience preferred.
Process steady state modeling experience (HYSYS, AspenPlus, etc.).
Experience in the design, construction or operation of Corn, Soybean, Wheat, Barley, Cocoa, Other Cereal Grains, Brewing, Sugar, Fermentation, or Bio-based Chemical Processing Facilities.
Thorough understanding and knowledge of industry standards, practices, and regulations.
Experience with the development of process design basis and select unit operations, the preparation of mass and energy balances, and the preparation of hydraulic and thermal calculations.
Experience with application, sizing, and specification of process equipment (vessels, pumps, agitators, heat exchangers, filters, separators, conveyors, dryers, and emission control units) and utility equipment (boilers, compressors, filters, chillers, cooling towers, and water treatment systems).
Equipment procurement support and bid evaluation
Coach and lead a team of process engineers based on project need.
Provide guidance / support to colleagues on agro-industrial processing requirements.
Support development of project scope, budget and schedule for all process related work and coordinate with other internal project teams to assist in equipment layout of processing systems.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and attention to detail abilities.
Excellent multitasking and organizational abilities for project efficiency.
