Stuart Hall School, an independent Episcopal day and boarding school serving grades 6-12, seeks a full-time Director of Learning Support to oversee the school's tiered Learning Support Program, focusing on students with academic learning needs . They ensure appropriate accommodations, provide interventions for skill gaps, and help students develop strategies for success. Collaborating with academic and student life administrators, they manage resources, develop support structures, and facilitate communication with faculty, staff, families, and outside professionals.
Position Highlights
The Director of Learning Support's responsibilities include :
Learning Support Program Administration
- Manage caseload of students across Learning Support tiers, including accommodations, Learning Lab curriculum, and individualized learning plans.
- Support teachers in implementing individualized plans tailored to student needs.
- Supervise Teaching Assistants in Learning Lab courses.
- Facilitate accommodations process with families, ensuring clear communication and support.
- Assess student progress using formative and summative practices, adjusting instruction as needed.
- Maintain regular communication with parents / guardians regarding student progress.
- Collaborate with the Director of Studies and Dean of Faculty to recommend additional student support (e.g., tutors, psychoeducational evaluations).
- Coordinate testing accommodations with the Testing Coordinator.
- Conduct classroom observations to align learning support with instructional practices.
- Attend Student Support Team meetings and maintain confidentiality.
