UNDERGROUND ELECTRICAL ESTIMATOR
Studebaker Electric, Inc. is looking for a well-versed Underground Electrical Utility Estimator to add to our growing company. This individual will have in-depth knowledge of underground electrical utilities and industrial electrical utilities. Candidate must be proficient in Bluebeam and HeavyBid.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Prepares work to be estimated by gathering drawings, specifications, and related documents.
- Identifies labor, material, and equipment requirements by performing organized bluebeam takeoffs.
- Resolves discrepancies by submitting pre-bid RFI's.
- Presents prepared estimate in an organized manner to the Chief Estimator.
- Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Maintains cost data base by entering and backing up data.
- Familiar with bid solicitation websites and can review jobs for potential bid opportunities.
- Maintains vendor and contractor relationships while preparing estimates.
Qualifications and Skills Requirements:
- 2 Years of construction estimating experience is required.
- Technical proficiency is required.
- Candidates must have at least 2 Years of HeavyBid experience.
- Candidates must be proficient in Bluebeam.
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent any major (Construction Management or Engineering Fields are a plus).
- Applicable work and field experience preferred.
The ideal candidate:
- Previous experience in Traffic Signal, Caltrans, or Airfield work
- Previous experience and working knowledge of the current NEC
- Excellent communication, listening and interpersonal skills
- Able to problem solve and make decisions; keeping clients and employees informed of business decisions
- Possess initiative to drive results and to be involved in critical decisions
- Strong analytical skills; creating customer reports and highlighting key data
- Experience automating processes for efficiency
- A Bachelor's degree in construction management or electrical engineering is a plus
- Experience and understanding of electrical estimating software
