What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Coordinator, RSO Events position at Student Affairs?
The Assistant Coordinator for Recognized Student Organization (RSO) Events reports to the Assistant Director of Campus Activities and works collaboratively with the full Campus Activities team. The Campus Activities department significantly impacts the student experience for a campus of approximately 50,000 students. The department is responsible for the key functional areas of Recognized Student Organization support and services, Student Government advisement and support, campus-wide student programming, and leadership of the Trojan Welcome Experience programming and planning. In collaboration with their direct reports, the Assistant Director coordinates, oversees, and implements support and resources for the USC undergraduate and graduate student government bodies.
Position Description
The Assistant Coordinator works to support RSOs at USC, specifically in the RSO programming efforts. The coordinator’s responsibilities will encompass fostering connections between RSOs and the community, identifying leadership and service opportunities, supporting RSO event management, and collaborating with various groups to enhance the overall RSO event experience. Specific responsibilities include:
· Support RSO event needs, including event approvals, budget request approvals, and other required processes related to RSO-hosted events
· Lead and advise student leaders with their event planning
· Collaborate with the Assistant Director to oversee the University Events Permit Approvals for Recognized Student Organization events
· Review and approve RSO events on EngageSC
· Regularly liaise with Trojan Event Services for event support
· Oversee the RSO budget request process and approve, purchase, and distribute items for the group
· In partnership with the assistant director, manage the campus RSO recognition process, including applications, approval processes, and administration of the application platform (EngageSC)
· Support the RSOs in collaboration the University Credit Union to assist with approval of RSO accounts, updating the active RSO rosters, and assisting with managing RSO financial policies and expectations
· Fully participate in the RSO recognition process
· Work collaboratively with campus partners, students, and organizations to support programming and department needs
· Supervise, train, and recruit student workers in their roles supporting Campus Activities, programs, and initiatives
· Please note this position will require frequent night and weekend work; an adjusted schedule will be used to maintain as balanced of a schedule as possible
Minimum Qualifications
● Bachelor’s Degree
● 1-year relevant experience

The hourly rate for this position is $24.96 per hour.
