POSITION: Administrative Assistant II
EMPLOYER: Student Choice High School- Peoria
SUPERVISOR: Primary- Principal; (District Oversight- Administrator for Leadership & Accountability)
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Salary varies based on placement within the Non-Certified Compensation Schedule (pay range between $31,296-51,984 depending on [directly related] work experience and/or level of education).
- Full Time employment equivalent to 12 Months/225 work days (Work Calendar A).

JOB SUMMARY: The role of an Administrative Assistant II at Student Choice High School serves alongside leadership and staff as a champion for students needing wrap-around services and an alternative pathway to their high school diploma. This is a dynamic individual that understands alternative education and who strongly advocates for under-privileged and under-served youth and young adults. Utilizing the National Alternative Education Association’s Exemplary Practices as the standard for excellence, the Administrative Assistant II promotes and enhances the overall mission, vision, and culture of the organization; engages in professional development and program evaluation with all stakeholders to foster continuous improvement; adheres to all policies and procedures benefiting the success of the organization and all stakeholders; performs tasks in the development and continuous implementation of a high school program, which promotes the educational well-being of each student in the school.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manages the daily operations of the School Front Office.
- Provides customer service by responding to requests for information from parents, students, staff, and/or the general public; and communicates District policies and procedures.
- Enters a variety of information into databases, spreadsheets, and/or other related computer-based programs.
- Files a variety of information related to activities in the assigned area of responsibility.
- Opens, date stamps, and distributes incoming mail; and processes outgoing mail.
- Compiles routine, standardized reports from applicable database(s) and/or records; distributes reports to appropriate individuals.
- Prepares a variety of routine correspondence and/or form letters.
- Oversees enrollment, withdrawals, and student records.
- Enters and manages student daily attendance.
- Manages the Student Information System to include course scheduling, grades, student demographics, and attendance.
- Ensures records integrity for district and state level auditing.
- Collaborates with the Central Enrollment Team and Registrar Team.
- Supports clerical needs of Site Administrator.
- Supports the philosophy, core values, mission and vision of Student Choice.
- Works as part of a collaborative District/Campus team and projects collegiality and ability to inspire trust.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
SKILLS (position requirements at entry):
Providing customer service; Operating a computer and related software applications; Filing; Keyboarding;
Operating modern office equipment; Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- One-year general office or basic customer service experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above
Desirable:
- Bilingual - Spanish and English.
LICENSING REQUIREMENTS:
Must have or be able to obtain an IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. The use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work.
