The Student Conservation Association (SCA) is the largest provider of hands-on conservation programs for youth and adults. Program participants protect and restore national parks, national forests, wildlife refuges, marine sanctuaries, cultural landmarks, community green spaces, and much more across the country.

Location: Rolling Fork, MS
Service Dates: June 2, 2025 - July 26, 2025= 8 weeks
The scope of work for the collaborative project between Student Conservation Associates (SCA) and Legacy Village in Rolling Fork representing the South Delta Communities, is focused on partnership building, community engagement, and conservation careers, and disaster relief readiness as follows:
Key duties:
The major aims of this collaborative project include building direct partnership with Sharkey/Issaquena Public School District engaging students in community education and research, while sharing disaster preparedness, encouraging conservationism as a profession, specifically in the rural communities of Mississippi.
Main focus will involve elementary and High Schools and South Delta communities. This participant will partner with MS State GeoScience Department professors and interns, as well as MS People's Movement (Formerly – MS 4 New Green Deal) to prepare a list of materials and resources relevant, specifically to Rolling Fork and other communities in the South Delta.
Marginal duties:
Compiling or creating specific educational materials with South Delta faculty in the 5th and 10th grades Science Departments to be shared during classroom participation and distribution throughout the community of Sharkey and Issaquena Counties by storefront, door knocking, and community meetings, workshops, and field trips.
Individual Placement Benefits:
$600 per week living allowance
$1,000 per month housing allowance (or housing provided)
$1,130 one-time travel allowance
This is NOT an SCA AmeriCorps position.
