Position Summary
The African American Women Crew is a crew for self-identified African Americans. This crew is a safe space for women of color to learn, grow, and gain new technical skills. The crew will be working on projects such as invasive species removal, habitat restoration, litter abatement, and trail work in various sites throughout local National Park Service sites. Leaders will guide and help train members with hand and power tool use, equipment maintenance, trail maintenance and construction, emotional first aid, plant and tree identification, urban forestry basics, and more. Leaders will be responsible for incorporating the environmental education curriculum. Project monitoring and data collection will also be required throughout the season.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
As Crew Leader, you will be working with a co-lead to guide and inspire a team of ten high school-aged youth (14 –19) from the metro Atlanta, GA, area. This is an affinity crew for self-identified African American youth. ; The crew will be working on projects such as invasive species removal, habitat restoration, litter abatement, and trail work in various sites throughout local National Park Service sites. Leaders will be responsible for incorporating and planning environmental education and curriculum. Project monitoring and data collection will also be required throughout the season.
Marginal Duties
Act as a Crew Supervisor by facilitating teamwork, managing field-based tasks, and guiding crew dynamics; Serve as an Advisor by training members in technical conservation work skills, mentoring personal and professional development, and teaching environmental stewardship; Act as a Project Manager by communicating with an agency; park partners, ensuring successful and timely completion; of work projects, and upholding a positive representation; of SCA Perform tasks as a Program Administrator by organizing; logistics, completing documentation, managing a budget, completing end of the season report, and communicating with SCA staff.
Required Qualifications
Must be able to attend Crew Leader training: [05/19/25 to 05/30/25]; Must be a minimum of 21 years of age; Must have the ability to work in the US legally; Must have a valid driver's license for 3 years and MVR; that meets SCA standards; Must be available for all days of work 06/02/25-07/25/25;
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with youth or young adults, teaching; or environmental education a plus; Experience with conservation work skills or related skills; preferred – i.e., trail maintenance, trail construction, habitat restoration, chainsaw, carpentry, landscaping, and gardening; Ability to perform manual, physical labor for up to 8; hours per day, exposed to the elements, and must; occasionally lift and/or move 40 pounds or more; First aid and CPR certification ;

Compensation
$775.00 salary compensation.; Each Crew leader is given a van to transport crew ; members and to travel to the work site each day ; Each Crew leader is given a credit card for program expenses and gas for the van.;
