Position Summary
The Clear Creek Ranger District is seeking one Recreation Individual Placement to work in conjunction with Recreation staff and assist with patrolling of forest areas including assistance with public education for resource management purposes. Assist in the maintenance of forest improvements in developed and dispersed recreation sites. Constructs and/or maintains signs and gates along forest service roads. This work will also require the removal of fallen trees, rocks, and saturated garbage. This work will involve extensive driving, moderate hiking, and standing in variable weather conditions. These are dynamic and engaging positions in a busy urban Front Country unit, with opportunities to learn a variety of skillsets related to management of recreational resources.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
Position may work independently or part of a team. Duties may include a variety of tasks that include, but are not limited to: monitoring developed recreation sites,facility maintenance of developed sites,patrolling and monitoring dispersed recreation sites, patrolling on off-highway vehicles, making public contacts for compliance, and assisting with volunteer projects.
Marginal Duties
Simple mapping with the Motor Vehicle Use Map, online maps for field use; Management of online data; assisting other programs such as Wilderness, Trails, and/or Special Uses programs as needed.
Required Qualifications
Valid Driver License; ability to work well with others and maintain & prioritize task appropriately.
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with power and hand tools.

Living Accommodations
Housing may be available at the Clear Creek Ranger District Work Center in Idaho Springs, approximately 5 minutes away from the District Office. Interns will share a large bunkhouse with other interns or government employees. Interns will be assigned a room with one or more intern or government employee of the same gender. Laundry is available on site. Most cellphone service carriers cover the area around the Work Center and Idaho Springs.
Compensation
$460/week @ 16 weeks Government housing available or $400 monthly living allowance; $1,100 round trip travel allowance; AmeriCorps eligible ($2,817 education award) upon completion of 460 hours; Paid Federal Holidays; Public Lands Corps PLC Eligible if under 30 and 35 for veterans
All allowances are subject to applicable federal, state, and local taxes.
