Position Summary
This workforce development program provides participants with environmental education and practical experience in natural resource conservation, with a focus on projects within a National Park. Participants explore topics such as forest health, recreation access, citizen science, and trail building while contributing to meaningful projects like bridge construction, invasive plant removal, and trail maintenance. The program also includes training in stewardship, green job pathways, and environmental justice, equipping individuals with the skills and knowledge to support sustainable conservation efforts and environmental stewardship in one of the nation’s treasured public lands.
Schedule
January 13, 2025 - March 17, 2025
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Participate in outdoor environmental education; Work collaboratively with team members and National Park Service staff completing outdoor hands-on projects in field conservation; Learn new skills in trail maintenance, carpentry, tool use, and plant ID; Participate in career builder activities
Marginal Duties
Participate in environmental education learning activities; Complete feedback surveys; Participate in professional development sessions like career panels, SMART Goal planning, and Leave No Trace training
Required Qualifications
Ability to perform manual, physical labor for up to 8 hours per day, exposed to the elements; Must be a minimum of 15 years of age, currently enrolled in high school or graduating senior, and able to attain a work permit; Must have the ability to legally work in the US; Must be able to complete SCA online onboarding new hire paperwork in a timely manner
Preferred Qualifications
Outdoor work experience a plus; Experience working in a team; Open to learning new skills, more about conservation, and environmental education

No housing provided; Persons must already have secured housing locally prior to starting the position
Compensation
Bi-weekly pay $19.00/hour; Full-time 40-hour work weeks
All allowances are subject to applicable federal, state, and local taxes.
