About us:

The Student Conservation Association (SCA) is the largest provider of hands-on environmental conservation programs for youth and young adults. Program participants protect and restore national parks, marine sanctuaries, cultural landmarks, and community green spaces across the country.

Program Description:

The SCA is seeking a motivated SCA member to assist with Urban Forestry Service work in Stamford Connecticut. SCA Members will serve in Environmental Justice Communities and Parks throughout the City of Stamford including Mill River Park.

The primary duties of this position will include:

• Tree Planting
• Tree Care and Maintenance: Pruning, Watering, Root Flare Restoration and Mulching
• Invasive Species Management and Mitigation
• Permaculture

This position will generally require walking up to 5 miles per day over uneven and improved terrain, working in urban parks and natural spaces while working in a small team based setting. The service work will be physically demanding at times and may include repetitive tasks associated with the care of existing trees on a recurring basis.

This position is ideal for someone with a can do attitude, who can solve problems and work as part of a team. We're looking for someone who is willing to work hard, and who can get the job done safely and with minimal instruction. This position is a good match for someone interested in pursuing a career in Urban and Community Forestry.
