Position Summary
Yosemite National Park is seeking a motivated SCA member to assist park wildlife biologists in reducing human-wildlife conflicts by detecting and mitigating the availability of human food in campgrounds, parking lots, lodging facilities, and other park areas.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
Assist with monitoring movements of bears using radio telemetry; assist in capture and relocation of bears and other wildlife; assist with negative conditioning of bears and other wildlife using various tactics; enter daily patrol data into a database.
Marginal Duties
Additional wildlife management duties may be required as necessary including participating in wilderness patrols focusing on educating hikers and backpackers about bears and proper food storage.

- Pursuing or have a degree in wildlife biology
This SCA Position is authorized under the Public Land Corps Authority. All participants must be between the ages of 16 and 30, inclusive, or veterans age 35 or younger. Participants must also be a citizen or national of the United States or lawful permanent resident alien of the United States. Hours served can be applied toward the Public Land Corps (PLC) hiring authority.
Preferred Qualifications
Being a citizen, permanent resident, or national of the United States; being at least 18 years or older; having a high school diploma or equivalent; willing to undergo National Service Criminal History Check, including criminal background, sex offender and FBI checks.

Living Accommodations
Housing is provided in an on-site bunkhouse with kitchen and bathroom facilities in an adjacent building.
Compensation
$425 weekly Living Allowances
$1,100 Travel Allowance
$1,956 Americorps Education Award upon completion of no less than 450 hours of service
All allowances are subject to applicable federal, state, and local taxes.
