POSITION: HEALTH AIDE PARAEDUCATOR
Roving
EFFECTIVE DATE: Immediately
SALARY: $21.67 - $23.74 per hour
AA Degree - $.50 per hour extra/
BA degree - $.75 per hour extra
SCHEDULE: 7 hours per day, Monday-Friday
180 day – work year
QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED: (Qualifications which are essential to the position)
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must meet one or more of the following:
- -Worked as a Health Aide or Care Room attendent in PSD
- Must complete annual required training hours Para Certificate hours
- Ability to develop rapport and communicate well with students, parents and staff
- Demonstrated punctuality and an excellent work attendance record
- Must work within designated bounds of authority and confidentiality
- Demonstrate and model above average language skills
- Ability to follow supervisory directions and employ personal initiative when necessary
- Must have good organizational skills and be able to keep accurate records
- Ability to keep a positive attitude
- Must have current First Aid card or ability to obtain one
- Ability to follow safe work practices and procedures
DESIRED: (Qualifications which are not required, but would be useful to the position)
- Bilingual/Biliterate Spanish/English
- Experience working with computers
- LPN license, CNA or MA licensure or other medical experience
DUTIES:
- Assists school nurse in conducting various health screenings: vision, hearing, scoliosis and other health problems
- Records results of screening on individual student health cards
- Performs clerical duties relative to notifying parents of referrals from health screenings
- Performs other related duties as assigned by school nurses
