What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Operations Coordinator position at Student U?

Student U seeks a dynamic and motivated Summer Operations Coordinator for our engaging five-week Summer Academy. This role is perfect for individuals passionate about fostering a smooth-running and lively environment for middle and high school students, ensuring they stay active and excited as they prepare for their upcoming academic year. As the Operations Coordinator, you will oversee essential operations and logistics, crucial in delivering a memorable experience. This position reports directly to Karla Fernández, the Associate Director of Operations.
Under the supervision of the Associate Director of Operations, the Summer Operations Coordinator will be responsible for the following job responsibilities :
- Food Operations :
- Serve as the primary contact with Chicken Hut Catering and DPS Food Nutrition.
- Manage and support the Summer Food Service Program grant and all related documentation, which include receiving and processing meal tickets, tallying meals served to ensure all students receive a complete meal, and tracking expenses and invoices within the healthy food budget weekly.
- Coordinate all meal service logistics, including set up and clean up daily for breakfast, snacks, and lunch for 250 students.
- Maintain strong communication with Chicken Hut regarding weekly food selections.
- Ensure that field trips are provided with necessary snacks and / or bag lunches before departure.
- Work with three healthy foods interns who will serve as support during meal times, clean up, and set up.
- Logistics Operations Support :
- Support the transition to and from the WG Pearson Center to Durham Academy. This multiday task will require the transition of all materials and supplies at our center needed for the operation of Summer Academy.
- Summer Academy Planning during orientation weeks (June 16 - June 27) will include data input, organization of supplies, work with student files and other administrative responsibilities.
- Set up Supply Room at the beginning of summer academy and supervise weekly to ensure materials and supplies are organized inventory, and request more if needed.
- Keep a daily inventory of all technology supplies (e.g., Chromebooks, chargers), and ensure all Chromebooks and technology are organized and charging at the end of the day.
- Own and manage the sign-in and sign-out process for technology items.
- Print and distribute timesheets to bus drivers, be the point of contact with drivers if there are any scheduled shifts, etc.
- Oversee Bus Monitors ensure there is coverage every day, and work alongside our receptionist intern to ensure that rosters for all buses are done and ready for monitors.
- Ensure that the campus and shared spaces are kept clean and organized.
- Support the daily operations of the summer program, which will include special events logistics.

Compensation : $20 hourly rate
Commitment : Work weeks will include five full–time weeks of 35 hours per week (7 : 30am-2 : 30pm), not including Holidays. Some training / orientation will occur in mid-June, with dates listed above. Staff will be compensated for their time.
