STUDENT EMPLOYEE Wellness Clinic Group Exercise Instructor

The Ithaca College Wellness Clinic is a membership-based fitness center located in the Center for Health Sciences.  The mission of the Wellness Clinic is to provide quality health and fitness services to the Ithaca College community (IC faculty, staff, retirees, graduate students, and spouse/partners), while enhancing the practical experiences of Exercise and Sport Science students through guided clinical training.  The Wellness Clinic academic year hours of operation are Monday through Friday 6am-7pm. The Wellness Clinic is hiring Group Exercise instructors (Pilates, Yoga, Zumba or Fitness Dance, Boxing, Cycling, HIIT, Weight Training, etc.) for the spring semester. This position requires specialized knowledge, skills, relevant experience, and/or certification. 

JOB DESCRIPTION: 

• Prepare, lead, educate and encourage participants through safe and effective group exercise sessions. 

• Teach scheduled classes, beginning and ending on time; provide adequate warm-up, workout, stretching, and cool down; provide exercise modifications. 

• Monitor participants intensity. 

• Record participant attendance. 

• Enforce and follow policies and procedures of the Wellness Clinic. 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

• Matriculated student at Ithaca College.  

• Specialized knowledge and/or certification (must have at least one of the following): 

• Degree in Exercise Science or related field, OR 

• Current HSHP student at sophomore level or above, OR 

• Nationally recognized certification in personal training or group exercise, OR  

• Specific certification in class format (i.e., Zumba, yoga, cycling, etc.).  

• Availability to work during weekday operational hours (6 am – 7 pm), preferably for multiple semesters or summer sessions. 

• Ability to interact in a professional and courteous manner with people of diverse ages, cultures, and communication styles. 

• Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced, busy environment. 

• Excellent customer service skills. 

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

• Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and work ethic. 

• Reliability and punctuality. 

• Commitment to client confidentiality. 

• Required Certifications/Trainings upon hiring:  Adult CPR/AED, HIPAA, Blood Borne Pathogen, and Harassment Prevention Certification/Training. 

Preference will be given to students in the Department of Exercise Science and Athletic Training (ESAT) or in the School of HSHP. 

Pay Rate: $15.15
