What are the responsibilities and job description for the STUDENT-School of Business Student Services Team Member position at Student?
The Student Services Team answers any walk-in questions ranging from where a professor’s office is located to filling out digital paperwork in IC Workflow. This group of students assists the Dean’s Office with scanning files, folding/stuffing various letters and accepted student packages, answering the phone, maintaining a log to assist with the organization of the paperwork that circulates through the Dean’s Office, writing emails to students regarding their degree and/or paperwork status, and making various runs across campus to multiple offices.
The Student Services Team also assists in the use of IC Engage, Degreeworks, LinkedIn, and other resources available to School of Business students. SST members also serve as back up tour guides of the School of Business for guest speakers, alumni, and prospective families.
The Student Services Team members typically work 3-5 hours a week to create a 9:00am – 5:00pm Monday – Friday schedule. Each member must be a School of Business major in their first or second year. They must have strong writing and communication skills and demonstrate the ability to work as part of a team.
In advising:
- Use student information system (HomerConnect) to:
- Check Math Test Scores in order to place students in the correct math courses which correlate to their level
- Create multi-semester and multi-year degree plans for students which incorporate different scenarios that may occur
- At the request of professors, create detailed degree plans on curriculum sheets for faculty meetings with student advisees
- Compare multiple different What-if scenarios for students regarding different majors, concentrations, and minors
- Demonstrate knowledge of both curriculum and institutional procedure in creating detailed degree plans for students who plan to go abroad
- Advise on what forms are needed, how to find them, and the approval processes
- Demonstrate full comprehension of professions program requirements
- Use IC Engage to evaluate Professions Program workshop and career and leadership development progress
- Evaluate senior problem list degree evaluations to prevent missed requirements and delayed graduation
- Understand the entire curriculum for all majors and minors in the school of business (or understand and be able to use all available resources to answer questions related to any major)
- Check Bizhelp email account responding to students accordingly
Office duties:
- Answer the main School of Business phone line and direct calls
- Scan confidential documents into Slate
- Perform runs of confidential material to various offices across campus
- Assemble gift packages and letters for accepted prospective students
- Set calendar meetings for students with the academic services coordinator and the associate dean
- Sign for exams, and deliver miscellaneous material into staff and faculty mailboxes
- Fill paper trays for all computer labs
- Manage office during staff meetings (phone calls and walk-ins)
