Job Summary
Temporary, live-in positions to provide supervision, guidance, and recreational activities for high school students who attend Ithaca College’s Summer Pre-College Programs and remain overnight in campus residence halls. Training and orientation will occur from June 29 through July 6, 2025. The Summer Pre-College Programs will operate between July 6 and July 25, 2025. Residence Hall Assistants must be on campus beginning Sunday, June 29, 2025, and remain through the morning of Saturday, July 26, 2025.
Responsibilities
Residence Hall Assistants are responsible for:
- Providing supervision and guidance to participants who stay overnight in Ithaca College residence halls
- Ensuring the physical safety and overall well-being of participants
- Checking in with participants at each meal
- Assisting participants with navigating campus to their classrooms or other needed resources
- Designing and running a daily recreation activity
- Being on duty to supervise on and off-campus activities for participants as determined by the Residence Coordinator
- Serving as a role model for participants both personally and professionally, including modeling behaviors that are consistent with a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Storing and providing to participants over-the-counter or prescription medication as permitted by consent forms signed by a participant’s parent or guardian
- Informing the Residence Coordinator of any conflicts, accidents, and disciplinary problems in the residence hall or among participants
Qualifications
Candidates should express genuine interest in working with a diverse group of students in a residence hall environment and have a basic understanding of human, social, and educational development. Candidates with prior experience working with youth in a camp environment, a history of providing leadership to a variety of age groups, and the ability to foster the development of a community through a variety of methods are preferred. Preference will be given to current Ithaca College students.
All residence hall assistants must consent to and be able to pass a federal and state criminal history and sex offender background check by the college, comply with the Minor Protection Policy, attend a health and safety meeting, and be able to practice and adhere to the methods and guidelines as stated in the Ithaca College Safety and Medical Plan.
Pay Rate:
This position’s compensation rate is set at a total salary of $2325.00 and will be paid out over two pay periods starting with the second paycheck in July and finishing with the first paycheck in August. In addition to wages, a room in a residence hall designated by the college and partial board will be provided.
