Studio Jewelers is a family-style, service-oriented independent brick-and-mortar custom jewelry store that has been serving the Madison area for more than 40 years. We're looking for a "people person" with maturity and solid retail experience to join the team and work 4 or 5 days a week. Saturdays are our busiest days and your work schedule will include most Saturdays.
Our jewelry workshop is on site, and in addition to designing and making custom jewelry, we sell the work of a number of independent artists from around the country. It's a secure environment, busy at times, and you'll be working with a group of genuinely nice people who will help you learn the ropes. You’ll learn about the artists whose work we represent, the techniques they use in their work, and the gems and precious stones they work with. We’ll teach you what you need to know to advise clients with integrity and confidence.
The workday at Studio Jewelers starts at 9 AM and ends at 6 pm with a one-hour break during the day. Duties include setting up the store in the morning before opening, answering the phone and helping customers throughout the day, and putting the jewelry in the safe after closing. The position includes some data entry and social media posting, as well as shared household tasks. You may be asked to take packages to the Post Office, UPS, or Fed Ex, all of which are close by. There are two cats at the store, and petting and playing with them is also part of the job description. Off-street employee parking is provided.
