Job Summary
The Studio Museum in Harlem is seeking a Senior Graphic Designer to lead creative production and enhance the institution's standing as a 21st-century museum committed to championing and nurturing Black artistic vision. As a key contributor to shaping and maintaining the Museum's brand and visual identity, the Senior Graphic Designer will work as part of the Communications team while collaborating with internal stakeholders to identify needs and produce visually compelling and well-designed assets.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- The Senior Graphic Designer will lead the design and development of culturally compelling and institutionally relevant creative solutions for all the Museum exhibitions, printed collateral, digital graphics, invitations, signage, and environmental projects.
- Manage the ongoing development of the Museum's visual identity system, ensuring brand consistency across all audience touch points including but not limited to print, digital, social, OOH, and media campaigns.
- Create layouts and designs for exhibition catalogs and print publications, such as the award-winning Studio magazine.
- Work closely with the Marketing and Communications teams to conceptualize and bring cross-departmental visual narrative ideas to life across all channels.
- Work with and manage external freelancers, design studios, photographers, and illustrators.
- Manage production of all printed materials across the institution from conception to completion.
- Conduct pre and post-production quality checks.
- Maintain approved style and brand guidelines.
- Organize, monitor, and maintain files on shared drives.
- Other duties as assigned.

Compensation
75,000 - $85,000 annually
Salary is commensurate with experience within the guidelines of a small not-for-profit. A competitive benefits package is provided, including medical, dental, life and long-term disability insurance, a retirement account, and substantial vacation time.
