QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree
Appropriate MA Teacher’s Licensure
Exceptions to the above qualifications shall be made as the Superintendent deems appropriate and acceptable
JOB GOAL/PURPOSE:
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.
REPORTS TO: Building Principal / Assistant Principal / Title I Coordinator
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize time for instruction.
- Utilizes a variety of instructional and classroom management techniques to meet the individual needs of students.
- Utilizes Title I determined interventions, materials, and associated tools.
- Prepares lesson objectives and outlines for course of study, following curriculum guidelines or requirements of state and school.
- Uses appropriate techniques, strategies, and tools that promote and enhance critical creative, and evaluative thinking of students.
- Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student’s needs and conducts individual and small group instruction.
- Maintains a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
- Communicates with parents to discuss student progress and concerns. Engages in parent/guardian outreach, opportunities, and involvement, and maintains documentation of these activities.
- Completes progress reports for students each marking period.
- Participates in school and district initiatives that promote professional growth, social emotional learning, and accessibility to curriculum.
- Collaborates with grade level colleagues, multidisciplinary team members, and support staff to promote student success.
- Ensures that Title I instruction is supplementary to English Language Arts and/or Mathematics instruction that the student receives in the regular education classroom.
- Ensures that Tile I records are maintained; student folders, student data sheets, progress reports, parent communication, and annual evaluation.
- Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to ensure student safety.
- Performs other responsibilities as deemed appropriate and assigned by a supervisor and/or designee.
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the DESE evaluation system.
