Stone Setting Metal Smith 1

The Stone Setting Metal Smith must be able to perform task while maintaining 80% efficiency in any one skill set, Precision Assembler, Precision Fitter, or Precision Polisher.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Precision Assembler:

• Must be 80% efficient at this job with 3% or lower touch ups and recast
• Proficient in the operations of a Hydro-Flux torch
• Knowledge of setting gauges to correct amount of solder
• Good heat control
• Proficient in the use of mini torch
• Able to use mini torch in fine detailed soldering
• Proficient in the operations of a laser
• Able to repair metal defects by filling with laser wire
• Uses the Laser for tacking parts together prior to assembling with torch
• Proficient in the use of mx wheel
• Able to detail wheel to particular job function
• Prep piece to the highest amount of quality possible
• Proficient in the operation of the air dine
• Uses the air dine to remove spruing
• Proficient in the operation of the paste injector
• Able to identify the correct poste solder to use
• Proficient in using Joyal Tacker
• Know how to set tacker to each piece that is being tacked
• Able to modify probes to tack different pieces
• Proficient in all handheld tools
• Proficient in all handheld Flex-Shaft tools

Precision Finisher:

• Must be 80% efficient at this job with 3% or lower touch ups and recast
• Proficient in operating the Lap Machine
• Able to do quality work and bring piece to high polish
• Knowledge of all rouge used for pieces
• Able to detail wheel to particular job function
• Proficient in the use of the buffer
• Able to polish piece to high quality standard
• Proficient in stamping machine and hand stamps
• Knowledge of all stamping tools
• Able to polish inside ring to a final machine
• Proficient in operating the inside machine

Precision Fitter:

• Must be 80% efficient at this job with 3% or lower touch ups and recast
• Proficient in the operation of the Belt Sander
• Proficient in the use of the MX wheel
• Able to detail wheel to particular job function
• Prep pieces to the highest quality possible
• Proficient at round out/rotary file
• Able to rubber wheel pieces with very good quality
• Proficient in using the Inside Sander
• Able to sand inside of rings
• Proficient in all flex-shaft tools
• Proficient in all handheld tools
