Summary: The Manufacturing Engineering Manager is responsible for the development, qualification, continuous improvement, and documentation of manufacturing processes and methods. The Manufacturing Engineering Manager advises company leadership on actions necessary to proactively support manufacturing operations to improve Safety, Quality, and Productivity. The Manufacturing Engineering Manager serves as the Champion of Continuous Improvement programs in all company environments; manufacturing, office, and field services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead Continuous Improvement Initiatives: Champion a culture of continuous improvement across the organization, engaging all levels to drive waste elimination through Lean methodologies (e.g., 5S, Daily Management, Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, Total Productive Maintenance, Poka-Yoke).
- Drive KPI Optimization: Monitor and improve key performance indicators (KPIs) related to Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, and Cost by planning, executing, and supporting CI projects that align with organizational goals.
- Develop and Improve Processes: Analyze and enhance manufacturing process flows, focusing on safety, quality, cost reduction, and throughput improvement. Ensure sustainability of CI efforts by creating updated standard work, implementing visual management, and performing regular audits.
- Process Control and Standardization: Implement process control techniques and procedures to stabilize operations and ensure consistent results.
- Project Management: Plan, manage, and execute CapEx projects, ensuring adherence to budgets, timelines, and quality standards. Lead cross-functional teams in prioritizing and implementing improvement initiatives.
- Technology and Innovation: Introduce and integrate new technologies and manufacturing methods by staying informed about industry trends and innovations. Ensure alignment with organizational scalability and flexibility goals.
- Problem-Solving and Root Cause Analysis: Investigate and resolve technical problems using root cause analysis tools (e.g., 8D, Fishbone, FMEA). Establish preventive and predictive maintenance strategies to enhance operational reliability and minimize downtime.
- Metrics and Reporting: Develop and maintain metrics-based dashboards to track the performance of manufacturing processes and CI initiatives. Provide regular reports to leadership on the status of projects, highlighting successes, challenges, and future opportunities.
- Mentoring and Training: Mentor and train team members in Lean methodologies, problem-solving techniques, and waste elimination strategies to ensure CI principles are embedded across the organization.
- Compliance and Standards: Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards across all engineering and manufacturing processes.
- Collaboration and Leadership: Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to validate and optimize manufacturing processes. Lead CI-focused workshops and events, such as Kaizen events, to drive change.
- Travel Availability: Maintain availability for domestic and international travel as required for project execution and collaboration.
Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering and 7 or more years of relevant experience in a Manufacturing environment
Proficiency in Windows, Excel, Word, Microsoft Project, AutoCAD, and familiarity with ERP systems for production planning and inventory management
Knowledge and experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies (Green Belt or higher preferred).
Ability to grasp modern technology quickly.
Knowledge of ISO Quality systems and requirements.
Experience in assembly and fabrication processes.
Hands-on diagnostic skills in mechanical and electrical applications.
