What are the responsibilities and job description for the Purchasing Agent II position at Stuppy Inc?
The purpose of the Purchasing Agent II is to, at a more advanced level, identify and acquire goods, materials, and components for the Stuppy organization through fully vetted and selected vendors at the lowest and most competitive price available in the marketplace; to administer company buying and procurement processes, practices and principles to ensure goods, materials and components satisfy specifications and quality standards. The position will execute this purpose by directly supporting the mission and values of Stuppy, partner in guiding and decision making toward achieving the common goals of the organization.
Essential Functions
- Uses Stuppy purchasing systems to set up vendors, suppliers, and customers in the execution of buys, replenishment, tracking, etc.
- Maintains all job activity, pricing information, and product specifications in the buying systems to ensure that vendors meet the terms and conditions of service and supply agreements
- Negotiates purchasing agreements, pricing, terms and conditions of respective contracts then monitors execution thereof against actual performance
- Prepares purchase orders and reconciles orders, receives goods, materials, and components
- Resolve vendor variances and execute change orders as necessary to ensure product schedules are met in a timely manner
- Coordinate and communicate with other stakeholders such as accounting, production, etc., regarding the production process
- Develops and executes sourcing strategies to evaluate and ensure vendors, materials, and components meet Stuppy standards
- Manages and sources vendors and suppliers evaluating vendor performance on planned intervals
- Negotiates contracts and service agreements with suppliers subject to approval of the purchasing manager or a predetermined authority level
- Ensures replenishment of goods, materials, and components based on suggestions from ERP system
- Acts as a Mentor to Purchasing Agent I, conducts auditing of their work, and shares opportunities for learning
- All other duties as assigned
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- 2-5 Years’ experience in a purchasing or procurement role
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent work experience
- Experience working in ERP Software, Kinetic (Epicor) a plus
- Full grasp and working knowledge of the procurement process and administration thereof
- Detail orientation and advanced problem analysis skills
- Ability to execute numerous processes while addressing frequent changes of priority.
- Accountability driven with an appreciation of the use of metrics and objective performance standards
- Ability to make fact-based decisions predicated on substantive and objective data
- Proven self-accountability and capability to efficiently execute on work product
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to streamline processes for maximum effectiveness.

- Strong written and oral communication aptitude
- Advance skills with the Microsoft Office suite, especially Word, Excel, and Outlook (knowledge of Epicor a plus).
- BS degree in business or equivalent experience in purchasing roles some of which as a purchasing agent or buyer.
