The Director of Materials Management is responsible for the development, maintenance, and coordination of all supply support systems. Materials management's primary objective is to provide continuous supplies by placing the right item, at the right time, for the right price (cost to the healthcare institution). A sense of customer service to our internal customer is extremely important for this role.

Educational Requirements :
- A minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Experience may be acceptable in lieu of a master's degree.
Required Skills / Qualifications / Training / Experience :
Minimum of 5 to 7 years of materials management experience in a healthcare institution.Experience in business administration, economics or a related fieldESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :
Develop, implement and administer a coordinated supply support system that operates efficiently and meets the needs of the hospital's department and offsite locations.Develop and monitor adherence to policy and procedures in purchasing, inventory control, receiving and storage, distribution, print shop and mail service.Use personnel, space, equipment, dollars (in purchasing and inventory), and time to meet objectives.Provide administrative support to the hospital and affiliates in the form of reports, budgets, supply utilization analysis, forms management, and capital expenditure management.Develop department staff through ongoing coaching, in service education, on-the-job training, mentoring and evaluation.Responsible for ensuring qualified staff in all areas, and managing the hiring, termination and corrective action process for all areas of responsibility.Maintain good working relationships with all departments by providing service, management assistance, and open communications.Maintain adequate operating supply levels in the hospital and off site locations, coordinate timely supply distribution.Maintain high degree of managerial competence through continuing education or participation in seminars and conferences.Understands patient age specific needs when negotiating equipment and supplies, contracts / purchases as well as cultural issues and disability concerns.Optimize inventory system to ensure inventory is accurately and efficiently tracked.Performs related managerial and administrative duties.Sturdy Memorial Hospital is an equal employment opportunity employer.
