STV has an opening in our Boston, MA office for an experienced Electrical BIM Designer in our Buildings division. In this position as a CAD/BIM Designer, you will have the opportunity to work as part of a team of engineers and designers on multiple projects for both the Buildings and Transportation Industry. Key Responsibilities:
- In coordination with engineers and other designers, produce construction drawings and plan set using Revit and AutoCAD software
- Prepares drawings for new construction and building renovation projects from sketches or other architectural and/or engineering data.
- The ability to develop and maintain 3D models in Revit, Navisworks and similar products.
- Develops plan drawings for specific engineering applications (electrical engineering and fire alarm design).
- Organizes and maintains drawings, cloud-based models, and records for duration of each project.
- Closely teamwork with other members of the project team with a willingness to take on more responsibilities as your experience evolves.
- Work closely with design leads and engineers in recommending the best use of CAD/BIM tools to achieve project objectives, troubleshoot and resolve issues with CAD tools.
- Perform thorough quality control edits (red lines) of construction documents as directed by design team and utilizing the correct project and/or company standards.
- Assist on site visits with project/survey team.
- Demonstrate good character traits and rapport with colleagues.
Capabilities and Credentials:
- Technical Training preferred or equivalent experience.
- 7 years’ experience in Revit, AutoCAD, BIM modeling, and drafting software is a plus.
- 7 years’ experience with building architecture and engineering systems related to transportation infrastructure and facilities construction is preferred. Understanding of basic field layout principles.
- Understanding concepts of BIM.
- Ability to work on multiple projects under the guidance of project managers / engineers / lead designers.
- Ability to read and understand construction documents such as, drawings, sketches, 3d representations, etc.
- Ability to solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity and innovation.
- Ability to retain information, details, procedures for use on future projects.
- Working knowledge in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite, AutoCAD 2D, and other BIM programs.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to work under and meet tight deadlines.
- Punctual, dependable, detail-oriented, thorough.
- Develop towards the ability to work independently, with minimal supervision.
Compensation Range:
$98,010.59 - $130,680.78
