What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Inspector- Heavy Civil/Utilities position at STV?
STV is seeking two Construction Inspectors – Heavy Civil / Utilities for our PM / CM group in NYC.
The Inspector will oversee roadway and infrastructure construction, including at-grade and elevated roadways, structural steel, steel decking, concrete foundations, Maintenance of Traffic (MOT), and subsurface utilities . The inspectors will ensure compliance with project specifications, safety regulations, and quality standards while monitoring contractor performance.
Key Responsibilities :
- Conduct on-site inspections of civil and structural construction activities, including roadways, bridges, and subsurface utilities .
- Ensure compliance with DOT, AASHTO, ASTM, and local construction codes and standards .
- Monitor contractor work for quality, accuracy, and adherence to approved construction plans and schedules .
- Inspect structural steel fabrication, steel decking installation, and concrete foundation work.
- Oversee earthwork, grading, drainage systems, and subsurface utility installation .
- Verify compliance with MOT (Maintenance of Traffic) requirements and traffic safety protocols.
- Review and approve construction submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, and material testing reports .
- Identify non-conforming work and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, utility providers, and contractors to resolve field issues.
- Document progress through daily inspection reports, photographs, and punch lists .
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safety regulations and work zone traffic control guidelines .
